Hi Elise, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up in Southeast Texas and have been singing and playing piano my entire life. I went to LSU in Baton Rouge on a full tuition scholarship for Music/Voice Performance. I studied classical voice/opera and studied abroad in Salzburg, Austria, and Novafeltria, Italy. I didn’t get into grad school, so after graduation, I moved to Dallas in 2011 and started working in Staffing for Randstad staffing. I then got my real estate license in June 2014 and have been a full-time real estate agent ever since. I’ve performed music on the side in Dallas professionally since 2014. I started my real estate business with the intention to do music as a “side hustle.” I started performing more consistently in 2019. Some venues where I have performed are Lorenzo Hotel, Canvas Hotel, Mercy Bar & Lounge, Turkish Cafe & Lounge, The Library Bar at Warwick Melrose Hotel, ALoft Hotel, The Balcony Club, Wine Therapist, Chocolate Secrets. The past 4 years have been my best in real estate, and I recently found out that I am currently the top-producing agent for the quarter at my real estate brokerage – Better Homes & Gardens, Winans. I feel that having both music and real estate give my life fulfillment and purpose.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As I mentioned before, I didn’t get into grad school for classical voice, which was a huge blow to my ego. It took me a couple of years before even going to an open mic night. Breaking into the music business and the real estate business have both been an uphill climb. Lots of rejection in both industries. I feel though that with lots of perseverance and consistency, I’ve been able to rise to the top.

What do you think about luck?
I feel that my luck has been good. My father always said to “await your opportunities prepared.” In doing this, I feel like I have been prepared for whatever comes my way in life. I have been very open to receiving new opportunities, and I say yes to pretty much anything my gut tells me I should do.
