Meet Emily Herbold of Eden Lifestyle Boutique in Frisco

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Herbold.

Emily, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My journey into the world of retail is no surprise as I look back into my childhood memories. Some of my fondest times were strolling with my Memaw through The Popular, a department store, in the desert town of El Paso, TX, where I grew up. I was mesmerized by the displays, bright lights and the adorable Hello Kitty cart set up in the center with shiny pink odds and ends just waiting to be purchased. I can still feel the flutter of delight from those special trips. Fast forward a few years and I found myself graduating with a Marketing degree from Baylor University and starting a career in big box retail. Little did I know that this winding road of experiences would lead me to owning my own little shop in the heart of Frisco. Eden Lifestyle Boutique was founded with a heart to be a safe and inviting community for women and children – a haven where you can come to be encouraged, have fun, be inspired, shop and spend time together. We want to create magical moments for families in this generation. What could be more memorable than shopping together with your mother, your grandmother and creating sweet memories to last a lifetime?

Sometimes the world can be tough on girls and women with so much pressure and judgement from photoshopped ads, Instagram and overall unattainable images. We want to encourage new moms in the midst of sleepless nights and changing bodies, teach girls self-confidence and kindness, and create within our walls a true community of women. When women and children feel good and confident in their appearance, it creates that sense of self-worth in them, which is the cornerstone of a healthy and fulfilled life.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not! Nothing beautiful is ever easy. When we decided to open Eden, we knew there was nothing like us in town. I am a mom to young children and I know all too well the pains of going to the mall and finding parking, loading up, the crowded lines and the meltdowns. It takes the joy right out of the shopping experience and is far from the magical childhood experiences I remember. I love quality clothing for my own children and had a very hard time finding any of my favorite brands locally. I love to touch and feel a product before I buy it, especially baby clothes and there just weren’t many options here to do that. Clothing must be soft and you just can’t tell that thru a computer screen or if that tag in the back of the tee is going to drive your four-year-old bonkers! As we all know, retail is in a crux of change with so many big hitters online and many large chains closing up shop. To say this was the perfect time to open a small boutique sounds crazy but we knew this was our path and were lead in the right direction. We are still growing exponentially with new clients finding us every day for their lifestyle needs. In fact, everything has been so well received that we are currently in the process of franchising Eden Lifestyle and couldn’t be more excited. This is such a monumental time to be a part of this industry and we are beyond blessed with the opportunity to impact our community.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Eden Lifestyle Boutique – what should we know?
Eden Lifestyle Boutique is an encouraging, local environment for moms to come alongside each other, shop easily and dish on mom life. You will find a combination of comfort and trend for babies & children from newborn to tween. We carry Joules, Tea Collection, and Kickee Pants to name a few of the 75 plus brands available in store. We know that your lives are busy just like ours, so we have created a pocket of women’s apparel in our store for a true one-stop shopping experience. Our women’s selection includes cute fashion tops, affordable denim, accessories and workout gear.

We are so very excited about our give back programs. We offer charity fundraising events and also partner with many nonprofits globally who are impacting the next generation. Many of the brands we carry in the store are on a mission as well and we are especially proud to offer these simple ways to make a daily impact to our world. One of our favorite give back brands in the store is Bella Tunno. Not only are their baby products adorable and practical, they donate a meal to a child in need for every product sold! These are the types of brands we can get behind!

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Perseverance. Rome wasn’t built in a day and I am constantly reminding myself of that. I have learned to take each day one day at a time and have patience when some processes take longer than expected. This is easier said than done sometimes but keeping your eyes on the ultimate goal helps to make the daily steps easier.
