Meet Emily Rainier of A Dose of Emily in Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Rainier.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Emily. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
I am a Nashville transplant living in Dallas, Texas. I’m a wife, mom to my precious Golden Retriever, Tucker, and Pure Barre instructor and Manager of both Pure Barre Dallas studios. My husband Michael and I have been together since high school, and after attending different Universities, we decided to pick everything up and move to Dallas.

A Dose of Emily began as a way for me to share my passion for fashion, food, fitness, and everything in between. Since I was a little girl, my friends have always come to me for fashion advice, but I never thought it would bring me here, sharing the things I love with this community!

I finally verbalized my desire to start A Dose of Emily to my best friend in February of 2016, as we chatted over coffee and brunch in Boulder, Colorado. For months prior, I had felt a tug at my heart to put my passions into play, but I just didn’t know how or when. As we talked, I realized that there was no time like the present, and by March, I had officially launched my Instagram! A Dose of Emily is not only a creative outlet but also a place where anyone can come and find something that inspires them or makes them smile.

My posts are full of my take on the latest trends, emerging companies with great products, and restaurants that make my mouth water. I hope that by highlighting brands that I believe in, I can encourage my followers to embrace their own preferences as they shop and discover new places in their local community.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has most definitely not been a smooth road. The biggest obstacle bloggers face is the temptation to compare themselves to others. This world is so saturated now that those thoughts of “is my content good, why am not getting as many likes as that blogger, and maybe I’m just not good enough for this,” is just the start to a never-ending personal struggle that can be overcome with perseverance and ambition.

When you first start, the adrenaline and excitement of something new takes over and carries you through the first year, or so, at least it did for me! You worked hard to get those outfit picks, jotted down a few ideas in a blog post and slowly saw your following increase and hoped that your engagement did as well. Now I’m almost three years deep, and I struggle with all the obstacles, just in a bigger sense. Now the feelings of your pictures need to get better, your content needs to be better, and the ever-present algorithm changes with Instagram keep you from seeing that all your hard work is worth it.

At the end of the day, the biggest obstacle we all face as bloggers is to let go of the acceptance from others and be rooted in your own mission. Being reminded why you did this in the first place. I find that I am much happier in my status as a blogger when I am grounded in who I am and why A Dose of Emily matters. When I can truly connect with that truth, the obstacles don’t seem so large.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about A Dose of Emily – what should we know?
I’m a woman with a passion for helping others discover who they are through self-expression and style. Whether it’s how to dress for your body type or finding a budget-friendly way to decorate your bedroom, my desire is to help the everyday woman find the confidence to show the world who she is. I hope that through my blog, A Dose of Emily, I can spark the question, “How does my style celebrate who I am?”

All too often, we get caught up in the expectations of others and risk losing who we really are in the process. Life isn’t easy, and neither is putting together the perfect outfit. I absolutely love fashion, makeup, and a good cup of coffee, but I also know that every woman’s true beauty lies within; we all need a little guidance to help accentuate it. I strive to live a life where joy is contagious, and style is a reflection of my personality.

I’m most proud of always being me. What you see is what you get. Although my pictures may seem like they paint a picture of what isn’t reality, following my blog is much more than scrolling through and “double tapping.” I have a community here of women who are strong, independent and really beautiful. We’re human and life isn’t perfect, but when we build each other up, we become a force to be reckoned with!

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Authenticity and genuine hard work. Your followers or your community are people, and people know when something is fake. If you don’t portray who you truly are, eventually people will see right through that! Also, if you aren’t willing to actually put in good old fashioned hard work, then this truly isn’t going to benefit you or anyone else. You have to do what you love and let your passion drive you to the finish line, even if it means a little blood, sweat, and tears along the way!
