Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Ball.
Hi Eric, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am in the transportation industry. I started in this industry through my employer as I held a position as a certified inspector who inspects 18 Wheelers, investigate accidents, coach transportation companies on the importance’s of safety. I covered the areas of safety that ranges from equipment awareness, driver awareness and the understanding of the law. After years of working in that capacity, I started a transportation company as an investor. I invested in my little brother’s dream and made it a reality. Since I helped grow that company and started a coaching and mentoring business that helps new fleet owners in transportation so that they can have a successful company. In the transportation industry of trucking, it is a high turnover rate (about 80% go out of business) with start-up companies not making it passed the first two years in business due to the information that I provides. Therefore, if start-up companies are properly educated, they could potentially create generational wealth in the transportation industry of trucking.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, I struggle with maintaining a 9-5 job and trying to run a successful business, be a father and a husband. It can be challenging at times.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I currently serve as a full-time police officer, where I am assigned to the traffic division. In that role, I gained the knowledge that helped me create a business outside of my employment. In my full-time position, I am a part of a mentor program where I am assigned to a High School basketball team and mentor the players. I love that role because a lot of our players lack a father presence in their lives. I build a relationship with each player, check on them throughout their time in High School to make sure they are passing classes and successful on the court.
I specialize in Trucks safety. I am known for making companies aware of what is required of them when owning a trucking company and staying in compliance with the government. I specializes in equipment, driver and safety awareness. Without this knowledge, a truck company and its drivers could face large fines and penalties and potentially jail time. Overall, I help improve a company daily operation.
Nonetheless, I am most proud serving people and seeing them get results. But what sets me apart from other is the fact that I do things genuinely and with a passion. It is not about the money I can make, it’s about me changing lives and seeing my mentees or clients get the best results.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memory is leaving the projects I grew up in, living in Chicago and going to the suburbs to play select baseball. It made me feel like somebody when I got a change to interact with other kids that had more then me. It gave me motivation to want more than my environment out of life.
