Meet Eric Edmonson of The ELE Code in Austin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Edmonson.

Eric, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am 35 years old originally from Detroit, Michigan born and raised. I moved to Austin back in January of 2015 to run away from the cold and also start a new chapter in my life. When I visited Austin in August 2014, I knew this is a place I wanted to live, build, and the perfect escape from cold Michigan. Detroit will always be home but I am officially done with snow. I decided that Austin would be the place I would start my Style Coaching/Blogging business. It took me a couple of years once I got here to start, but in January of 2018, my baby (my blog) was born http://theelecode.com: I also started taking online courses for personal styling at this time as well.

On my blog, I talk all things fashion related, upcoming trends and how to’s. I know fashion or putting together outfits is not something that everybody would consider to be fun. I also know with social media and society overall, the pressure of how you look can be stressful or overwhelming. This why I want to help people with no only fashion, but also their confidence. Fashion without confidence is very ineffective. You have to have confidence in what your wearing and that does not come easy to all. Eventually, my blog and style coaching business will work hand and hand.

Since starting my blog, I have been featured in two online publications and have done interviews via podcast and video. But I am still very much in the beginning stages of building my brand. I plan on starting to Style Coach in 2020. I love what I do and I am very excited about what the future is going to bring with my business.

Has it been a smooth road?
Not at all! I’ve been working two jobs since the start of my blog. Trying to study for Style Coaching and blogging, along with running the blog can be a lot. At one point, I had stopped writing on the blog which I felt horrible about, but I let work get in the way. Having balance is very important and moving forward, studying and running the blog is a priority and a non-negotiable.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into The ELE Code story. Tell us more about it.
On my blog The ELE Code, I write and educate on all things fashion. The ELE Code is designed for Styling and Inspiration under my Fashion Code of Conduct. I often hear women and men feeling anxiety and frustration when it comes to stying themselves or they just do not know how to style themselves. I do however and I know what looks good and I can help take all the frustration and anxiety out of personal styling. Fashion is fun and everyone should be able to enjoy it!

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The fashion industry is something that changes but recycles at the same time. A lot of times a trend will end and then a couple of years down the line, it comes back. So, the Fashion industry kind of recycles. The biggest change I see that is happening now is fashion is becoming more of an online industry. A lot of popular fashion retailers are now online. So sadly, I see more brick and mortars closing and more online retailers growing. So, fashion is going more online and less brick and mortar.
