Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Matthews.
Hi Eric, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
A few years ago, I found myself as Background on The Chosen and decided that from then on, I wanted to work in Television. I found work as an assistant on set and began doing auditions and booking roles. Someone noticed me and invited me to work as a Spider-Man for kids’ parties; simultaneously, I was coaching a kids skateboarding program I started and that took off very well. Now I’m an actor, model, Spider-Man, coach, and film crew worker, and that’s my story 🙂
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This has NOT been a smooth road. The only way to make this happen was to take a huge sacrifice. I had to quit my job and sleep on my cousin’s floor for almost a year. I shared a small dog bed with my 2 dogs for a while and eventually got to where I could provide for myself and stay booked.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
Camera operator, commercial art dpt assist, actor, model, coach, Spider-Man.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Well, a lot of people think I come from a wealthy privileged household, but I’m actually from a house of meth addicts that abandoned me before I finished school. It was a wild journey, and most people wouldn’t think my past was colored that way.
