Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Wilkins.
Eric, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I had every reason not to succeed. Due to the ramification of my parent’s divorce, I grew up in a one bedroom apartment in a low-income part of Dallas. In school, my grades weren’t great. In fact, my favorite class was lunch, which is probably why I weighed well over 300 pounds during my teenage years. (Now 230lbs)
A turning point in my life was when I began playing Rugby during my junior year of high school. I was quickly appointed as team captain and learned what being a leader felt like for the first time in my life. Our team went on to win state, the western championship, and place third in the nation. Those successes earned me an invite to try out for the Under 19 USA National Team. I qualified for the developmental squad, then went on to compete at the Mall in Washington, DC in a national tournament.
I felt encouraged to seek more opportunities to lead and a calling to Granbury led me to be a part of starting StoneWater Church. I quickly realized, equipped with God’s grace, I could accomplish anything I put my mind to.
To start, I was the first person in my family to attend and graduate from a university. While attending Tarleton State University, I met my wife, Ashley. We have three handsome and energetic boys all under the age of six.
In 2016 with 3 kids in diapers, I realized that we needed more income for our family if we were going to make it. I had no idea what to do, I tried everything from selling stuff I could find in my garage to giving guitar lessons. Nothing ever seemed to work out. One a trip to Austin for our anniversary I was looking out onto Lake Travis. God immediately put the thought in my mind to call my buddy Barry Stokes who has a fishing show on FOX Sports Southwest called FOX Sports Outdoors. I asked him if he could use some help with his social media and he agreed to me doing that. By the time the month of August was over I had 10 clients to do their social media for…I quickly started enlisting family to help me with this as I couldn’t do it on my own. As that began to grow so did questions like “do you do websites, graphics, logos, business cards, videos etc…?” So we went for it and became a full-on marketing company. The business boomed and within a year we now have 13 employees, work for several MAJOR franchises, own 3 magazine publications and have nearly 1,000 clients!
Has it been a smooth road?
It has been a smooth road ever since I really just gave it all up to God!

I am most proud of my team and how they have come together to make our business what it is today!
What sets us apart is we are a real and local team. When we build your website, there are literally 6 to 10 people in our office putting their hands on the project. We don’t outsource overseas or anything like that.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The marketing industry is tough because it literally changes every day. I believe the shift is going to get more and more targeted with marketing to where Gorilla marketing will become very little to obsolete. We are hit with around 3,000 marketing messages per day, unfortunately, we don’t remember 99% of them because the style of marketing that is being done is meant for the masses and not me as a person.
