Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Berkebile
Hi Erica, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
After a successful career in HR, I realized I was working a job rather than pursuing a fulfilling career I truly loved. Real estate had always been a passion of mine, but the timing never seemed right—until my family moved to Texas in 2015.
Shortly after relocating, I completed my real estate courses, passed the licensing exam on my first attempt, and joined Keller Williams Realty. I was drawn to Keller Williams because of their outstanding reputation for training new agents. Their program encourages agents to build their businesses through methods such as hosting open houses, cold calling, and door knocking. While I achieved success with these strategies, they didn’t resonate with me or align with my vision for how I wanted to run my business.
A pivotal moment in my career came when I connected with a mentor who introduced me to Brian Buffini’s coaching program. Buffini’s “working by referral” approach immediately clicked with me. I immersed myself in the program and never looked back.
As I approach my ninth year in real estate, I am grateful to have built a career that allows me to genuinely serve my clients and build lasting relationships. My focus is on creating an exceptional experience for my clients—from our first meeting, through every step of the transaction, and well beyond closing.
One aspect of my business that sets me apart is my commitment to client appreciation. For instance, this past July, I rented a movie theater to host a private premiere of Twisters for my clients, complete with door prizes and raffles. Each year, I host a series of signature events, including an ice cream social at a local shop to celebrate the start of summer and a gratitude gathering in November where attendees receive a Thanksgiving pie or a bottle of wine.
Beyond these events, I enjoy surprising my clients throughout the year with thoughtful gifts, personalized mailers, and small tokens of appreciation. My goal is to ensure my clients feel valued and cared for—not just during the transaction but for years to come.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting any new business comes with its challenges, and real estate is no exception. When I began my career, I had just moved to a new state where I didn’t know many people. I had to step outside my comfort zone, work tirelessly seven days a week, and ensure I was available whenever my clients needed me.
Over the years, I’ve navigated various market conditions, including the challenges of the COVID-19 shutdown, sudden spikes in interest rates, and countless other shifts. Through it all, I’ve learned to pivot, develop effective strategies for my clients, and keep moving forward.
Real estate isn’t a business where you can sit back and wait for opportunities. It requires adaptability, resilience, and a proactive mindset. You either roll with the changes and adjust or step aside and let others take the lead.
For me, success comes from my clients’ success. I’m committed to demonstrating my value, crafting winning strategies, and empowering my clients to feel confident and capable—no matter the market conditions. Together, we achieve their goals, and that’s what keeps me motivated to keep winning.
We’ve been impressed with Erica Berkebile DFW Realtor, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My real estate business is built on a foundation of trust, referrals, and lasting relationships, allowing me to focus on providing exceptional, client-centric service. From our first meeting to well beyond closing, I take the time to understand my clients’ unique needs and goals, offering personalized guidance, proactive communication, and thoughtful touches to ensure a seamless and stress-free experience. I’m committed to empowering my clients with the tools and knowledge they need to make confident decisions—no matter the market conditions. My value lies in delivering results through customized strategies, deep market expertise, and a genuine dedication to my clients’ success. Beyond the transaction, I maintain strong connections through my client appreciation program. These efforts demonstrate my commitment to loving on my clients and building a community of trust. At the core of my business is the belief that my clients’ success is my success, and I strive to exceed expectations in every interaction, making me the agent they can trust, refer, and return to time and time again.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Like many challenges I’ve faced, the onset of COVID-19 required me to step back, evaluate the situation, and lean into the resources available to adapt. Keller Williams provided daily training sessions during that time, which allowed me to focus on education and self-development whenever I wasn’t working with clients. While the market experienced a brief slowdown in March 2020, within a couple of weeks, business was booming again.
One of the most valuable aspects of that period was how we, as agents, transformed setbacks into opportunities to make the home-buying process more efficient for our clients. Technology played a crucial role in this shift—virtual showings and open houses, along with Zoom consultations, became integral tools.
With Texas becoming a hot destination for relocations, I developed a comprehensive process to help out-of-state clients navigate the home-buying journey remotely. From providing virtual tours to facilitating offers without requiring travel, I ensured my relocation clients felt confident and connected throughout the process. Some even purchased their homes sight unseen, only stepping foot inside on move-in day, yet they felt fully engaged and informed every step of the way.
COVID-19 was an unprecedented challenge, but it pushed me to adapt, innovate, and embrace change. I’m proud of my ability to rise to the occasion and continue serving my clients effectively in any market.
