Meet Erin Rivers-Bowens of Elevated Soul

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Rivers-Bowens.

Erin, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve been cooking since I was a child under the guidance of my Grandmother and my mother.

We always cooked together. I was typically the taste tester, the bowl stirrer or the oven opener. LOL! But one day as I stirred up a bowl of cornbread to combine the ingredients my Granny looked at me and said “I love the way you stir. You do it with so much love.”

Later in my life with her passing, I’d come to realize how important those times with her in the kitchen would become. I’d also realize that she helped me find my life’s passion.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Smooth on the path of entrepreneurship is quite impossible. LOL! I balanced working full time, a divorce, building my business, going to and graduating college with my Associates and my BA over the last few years.

Nothing has been smooth necessarily but it’s been so incredibly WORTH it. I walked out of my full-time job back in May and God has shown OUT for me every single day since I had the faith to trust in him. Don’t make me testify this morning!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Elevated Soul – what should we know?
Elevated Soul is my love child. Born from a desire to follow in my Granny’s footsteps. You feed a stranger and you can learn so much about them. My Grandmother only achieved a low level of education but later returned to school to become a certified dietitian. She loved food, she loved feeding people.

I’ve taken her classic southern comfort recipes and added new school ELEVATED twists. I think she’d be quite proud. Daily specials for delivery, catered events such as weddings, various showers, and even an all-purpose seasoning line for sale.

And I’m just getting started.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success for me is measured by not only my wins but my mindset and attitude in the midst of losses as well.

Success is not only being financially stable but helping the people around you and your community reach success as well.

My goal is to build something that my children’s children can inherit and continue to cultivate one day.
