Today we’d like to introduce you to Eugenia Davis.
Hi Eugenia, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always dreamed of being an entrepreneur and over the course of several years, started several businesses. I struggled as a business owner, and eventually, my businesses would fail, but I couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong. I started to think that being an entrepreneur was not in the cards for me. When the 2020 lockdown hit, I began to really reflect on the decisions I had made in the past and I decided to try therapy. I had previously tried therapy, but reflection made me realize I was not actually committed to it, and I only got out of it what I put in. So I decided to give therapy a try again and this time, commit myself wholeheartedly. I was very surprised to learn that my mental health had an effect on my businesses. I had no idea that the impact of “simple” decisions was not so simple. It was a revelation to learn that I had to deal with the trauma from my personal life in order to level up as a businesswoman. I felt so free after learning these things about myself that it became important to me to help others with it too. Thus, my book “Therapy Saved My Business” was born.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road was not smooth. The first roadblock was learning to be vulnerable with the world. I am not a very open person, so I had to work on that. The second roadblock was gaining a following. I had written a book and released it with no promotion or any kind of advertising, so I had to figure that out at well. Little did I know, so many people would relate to my message and that was its own marketing plan.
As you know, we’re big fans of Dymanz Glaze. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Dymanz Glaze is a cosmetic line that is vegan and cruelty-free. This line consists of an all-natural high shine gloss and metallic lipsticks. I love my brand because I wanted to create a product that not only enhances your beauty it also hydrates and moisturizes with natural ingredients. My metallic lipsticks go well with any skin tone and give your look a nice pop of color with shimmer and can be worn at any outing.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I recommend being open to mentors. I myself am looking for a mentor. Until I find a mentor, I make sure that I am reading up on any questions that cross my mind. I also reach out to knowledgeable individuals to ask for help and ask questions as a great tool too. You will be surprised by how willing people are to help you. So for me reaching out, asking questions, and researching have helped. The role of mentor for me is still open, but I am looking.
