Today we’d like to introduce you to Eunice Camacho.
Eunice, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Everything started off while I was in high school, I just baked and tried decorating the cake because I found it fun and creative. After a while, I noticed how everyone’s reaction was towards looking and tasting the cake, this made it even more exciting for me. I was a senior in high school, confused with what I wanted to do with my life. Being a pediatrician was really what I was aiming for, but my budget was not close to that. I looked more into school and found Le Cordon Bleu. I did my research and decided to start my life journey. School was fun and stressful all at once. Being the first in my family to attend college made me push harder to keep going and making my family proud. After finishing school, I was afraid of doing my own business. I started seeing a few of my friends doing there own baking website and I told myself to go for it. There was a lot of ups and downs, I was giving up. I had my family, friends, and boyfriend always cheering me on and being my number one fan, I knew I was able to achieve more. I started baking and decorating more for fun and just posting my work people were asking and ordering.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It was not a smooth road starting from the bottom was very hard. Starting your own bakery at home is more expensive then what people are led to believe. I don’t think they understand how much time and effort is being put on a cake. Putting myself out there was complicated, I always thought about how much competition is out there I was making myself think this was not worth it at all. Having a full-time job plus keeping up with Sweets by Eunice was getting difficult.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Sweets by Eunice story. Tell us more about the business.
My business is based upon making wonderful cakes for people and experiencing the life-changing effect on people. To have people look at baking and respect what I do. Having each person look at baking totally different its a hobby of mind. Offering custom cakes, cupcakes, cookies, cake pops, and any special desserts. I’m known for custom cakes and cupcakes. I’m very proud of how my business has been growing throughout these months. What makes me stand from others are my three most popular flavors which are strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla. My strawberry has my customers ecstatic on how it tastes like a strawberry, the chocolate is so fluffy with such exploding flavor, and my vanilla its just so moist and spongy.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I say in any business you need some luck. I worked very hard and my dedication got me to where I’m at. I feel like it takes some percentage of bad luck, if I’ve never failed then I wouldn’t have anything to fix.
