Meet Evan Stewart of Obsessed Academy in Downtown Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Evan Stewart.

Evan, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My journey in business started when I was very young. I’ve been blessed to have strong mentors in business and life ever since I was a kid, so a “self-starter” and entrepreneurial mentality was all I’ve ever known. Before I built my own experience in business, their guidance was vital to my professional development.

But, in addition to their help, I truly believe the “entrepreneurial bug” is hard-wired into who I am. As an example, as early as grade school, I used to buy ice-cream from a cart that went around during lunchtime. I noticed that this cart went around when a good majority of kids were still eating lunch, and not ready to buy ice cream. So, I would pay the $0.75 fee or whatever it was at the time to purchase some ice cream bars, and resell those bars after the cart went away for $1 or $1.50 or so. I loved it! It is my earliest memory of a sales or business venture . . . it’s funny now, of course, but that mindset of searching for opportunity and making things happen is deeply a part of my DNA.

As I continued to grow up, I started a few other companies; some successful, some not so much. I had a landscaping business that I sold to another landscaping company in my area, an apparel company that I left, a small media and design team that funded the electronics startup before my exit, an electronics resale company which I sold right before finishing high school, and others. With each venture, I learned, grew, and applied that knowledge to the next opportunity. But, I didn’t have my first real “pop” in business until I entered the world of real estate: it was the perfect foundation for my expertise in sales and love of building companies. I worked successfully as a top-producing agent in real estate for nearly seven years before exiting with a book of business worth tens of millions and pouring my energy into Obsessed Academy. That’s where I devote my time, energy, and resources today.

Has it been a smooth road?
I’ve had some significant obstacles in my journey so far. From not having any real connections starting out, to being a younger professional and overlooked for a long time, to partnering with people who were discovered to be toxic and unethical—I’ve been through the wringer in many ways! But with that being said, I don’t believe in failure, I believe in feedback, and I’ve learned a great deal during those challenging seasons of my life.

I’ve learned how important it is to develop your core values and convictions and stay true to them. How to “protect your house,” and say NO when you really shouldn’t engage with a new opportunity (“shiny object syndrome” is a real thing to business owners!) I’ve learned how to really fight for what I want and the importance of staying in rhythm with the gritty mindset you need to push through challenging times. And most of all, how important it is to allow God to work within the framework of your life, and let Him take total priority. All I have today is because of Him.

Because of those lessons, I am forever grateful for those challenges I’ve faced. I would not be the man, leader, husband, or friend I am today without the pressure of those harder seasons in my life.

We’d love to hear more about Obsessed Academy.
Obsessed Academy was founded with one singular mission: to help other people build a life they can be obsessed about. To equip focused individuals with the profound tools, systems, and habits they need to bring quality and depth back to their life and relationships. Simply put, Obsessed Academy aims to be a catalyst for those who are called to a higher pursuit, by shifting the global recognition of what it means to live inspired and on purpose.

We specialize in establishing the systems companies need to increase their profitability, duplicate their best clients, shorten sales cycles, develop a bulletproof culture, and ultimately scale—and scale quickly. Our ideal clients are in service-based industries (financial services, insurance, real estate, sales with a relational need over just a transactional one, home services, etc.)

The main item that sets Obsessed Academy apart from other companies is our unequivocal ability to achieve results. OA started from an intense belief that many organizations and individuals were operating short of their potential. Not out of choice per-se, but out of a lack of proper information (or a saturation of “sales gurus” who are trying to sell quick-fix pills instead of a real, tangible, viable solution). OA only accepts private-clients from those companies that align with our core values, who have systems breaking from scale and not implosion, and who have confident CEO’s that just need a refocused direction. Our private clients on average see a minimum of 50% growth within their first year, and many of them have doubled their book of business—or more—in that same amount of time! We’re proud to be positively impacting and transforming the lives of those who entrust their future into our guidance.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
