Thanks for sharing your story with us Desirae. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I attended Citrus College in Southern California and graduated esthetician school in 2008. I went on to train and mentor under one of the industry’s most respected professionals and creator of a popular West Coast waxing boutique. She taught me the skills to become an expert in speed waxing while specializing in the Brazilian and bikini. I moved to Texas in 2013 where I trained and managed the staff of two Dallas waxing boutiques until 2015 when I took the plunge and started FAB Wax in Fort Worth. The rest is history!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There have been several bumps in the road on my journey. Getting started definitely wasn’t easy! When I began my business FAB Wax, I started all over with no clients. The first year or so was challenging! I didn’t know very many people as I was still new to the area. It can take a while to build up a clientele when you’re starting from scratch. It was scary being a single mom at that time and having a new salon lease to pay for. I had no idea if I would be able to bring in enough clients each week, but I’ve always loved what I do and I believed in my talents! It was a lot of hard work but completely worth it. I am very happy and proud of where I am today.
Please tell us about your business.
FAB stands for fast, accurate and beautiful. I am an expert in full body waxing, specializing in the Brazilian and bikini wax. I’m known for relaxing nervous clients and converting shavers into waxers through their service experience. My space is always clean, private, and comfortable. My clients leave feeling sexy and confident! I use high quality products and a technique that minimizes discomfort. The Brazilian wax is done in 15 minutes or less but you will never feel rushed! My first time clients are always surprised at how easy it is and how great they feel after. I love educating people about waxing and making them feel beautiful!
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I wouldn’t change anything. I really feel like I have learned and grown throughout every experience I have had. I am grateful for everything I have been through, even the mistakes. I strive to continuously improve as a person and small business owner.
