Meet Faith Alvarez of Urban Vacancy Press in Denton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Faith Alvarez.

Faith, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Founded in 2016, Urban Vacancy Press was created to offer a digital platform for Texas based creatives to let their art shine. It is a place where writers, photographers, videographers, and many more artists can come together to grow. Over the years, we have covered many stories to help creatives and others grow.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We have definitely had our ups and downs. The workload can get a bit overwhelming, but the volunteers and I continue to lift each other up and support each other each day. I think that’s what I enjoy the most. I am a big believer in community over competition and that’s an aspect we strive for.

Please tell us about your work.
Through our website, we give blooming artists a chance to showcase their work. We believe that every artist deserves to have their own spotlight, and this is the place to make it happen. Bringing the underground to the surface is our passion, and we aim to seek out the unknown potential Austin, Dallas and Houston have to offer.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment has been seeing this website help others succeed. I only hope to help more and more creatives, businesses, and events grow.
