Meet Flight by Nothing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Flight by Nothing.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I think our story kind of starts out like a lot of other bands. We were just a group of friends who shared a love and passion for music and creating new music. Porfii (bass), Samuel, (drums), and Conner (vocals, rhythm guitar) were buds in high school and had the occasional jam sesh. We met Pacco through Porfii because they used to play in a church band together years ago. We formed as a band in a day, and within two weeks, we played our first show. It was really, really bad, but it really lit a fire under us, and from there on we played shows every month at The Door in Dallas. Eventually, we fell off for about a year while we were recording our debut EP “Roads.” We’re just now back into playing shows, and it feels so good. We love it.

Please tell us about your art.
We love making music. I think all of us get something different out of it, but all of us thoroughly enjoy absorbing an album and seeing what it does to us creatively. Every song starts out differently, But it usually starts off with Pacco and Porfii playing a hot jam. After that, Samuel usually puts down some drums pretty effortlessly, but the hardest part for me (Conner) is the lyrics. Our dream is to create a sense of community, friendship, and fun around the music we make. What I hope people take away from our music one day is that sense of feeling connected to one another, just because they dig our music. That’s the dream.

What do you think about conditions for artists today? Has life become easier or harder for artists in recent years? What can cities like ours do to encourage and help art and artists thrive?
I think conditions for artists today are pretty cool. It’s cool because everyone can have a platform to get their art out in many different outlets. The frustrating part, however, is breaking through. There are so many talented people putting their work out and trying really hard. It’s tough for everyone to be heard and appreciated. I don’t really know what the city can do itself to help artists thrive, except help get their work seen and heard.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
You can listen to our EP on pretty much all listening services. Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Deezer, YouTube, and iTunes just to name a few. You can support our work by following us on Facebook or Instagram, but most importantly, come to a show!

These guys are awesome and you can see their genuine love of music and focus on the meaningful lyrics. I am double their age, but good lyrics are good lyrics! Glad I can say “I saw them back when they were just getting started”….and maybe score some free tickets.
