Today we’d like to introduce you to Frankie Klee.
Frankie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve always been passionate about holistic wellness and helping communities. As a massage therapist, I noticed many people saw massage as a luxury that was expensive, not accessible and for many often simply out of their comfort zone. I wanted to change that perception, educate people on the benefits of massage and make people feel that EVERY body is worthy of affordable self-care.
I started showing up at BrainDead Brewing, in Deep Ellum, for Metal Thursdays with my massage chair doing “Metal Massage”. Before the bands would go on I’d do $1 a minute chair massage during DJ Crash’s preshow metal-core set. At first, lots of people including the bands were like, what the… but then not just people coming to see the bands started showing up earlier to get chair massage, the bands also started coming earlier to their gig to get massage! I also started doing “Charity Chair Massage” donating 100% of my chair massage profits during events like the Deep Ellum Arts Festival at the FOUNDATION45 booth, The Vampire Court of Dallas’s Bleeding Hearts Ball, Riot Girl Showcase benefitting Girls Rock Dallas at the Curtain Club, and many other events for AMAZING organizations. This leads me to being called, #notyouraverageLMT. My clients range from pro athletes, musicians, burlesque & drag performers, lawyers, vampires & otherkin, to your neighbor’s grandma that makes the best cookies. Providing affordable inclusive wellness services free from body shame for EVERY body is my mission.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I had been a local performer for over a decade. A drag king with the Dukes of Dallas & Co-Founder of Mustache Envy and a very body-positive sideshow & burlesque performer with Deep Ellum’s Deadly Sins Burlesque and Sideshow. I had no idea how or if anyone would accept me as a massage therapist. I just knew that there were so many people for various reasons who weren’t getting regular massage and those were the people I wanted to help so I had to try and whoa. I’m so very humbled everyday by the outpouring of love and support for Rock ‘N Soul Wellness.
Alright – Tell us about your work. What should we know?
I provide affordable OUTCALL massage and holistic wellness services throughout the DFW metroplex. Everything from Swedish, sports, & Prenatal massage, facials, ear candleing, reiki, and more! You provide the location and I bring the rest. I’m most proud of being able to help local charities raise funds for great causes and getting the chance to educate people on the physical and mental benefits of regular massage.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I think keeping open communication, being real, and being knowledgable have been the biggest keys to the success of Rock ‘N Soul Wellness. I treat my clients with great care and respect. It’s not easy for everyone to be in such a vulnerable state and I respect that and do everything I can to make sure each person gets exactly what they need from their experience. I also invest a lot in continuing education, not just as a massage therapist but in other fields as well to be the best, to give my clients the best.
