Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabby Lee.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Gabby. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started back in 2010. I saw cake Boss on TV and thought… WOW I want to make amazing things out of cake! So I took a few Wilton classes with my dad and I just took off from there. I started doing cakes for family and friends over the years. But I had the desire to get serious with my cakes. I really want to do this as my career, so in February of 2018 I made my business official. I am working out of my home kitchen for now, but we are so close to getting our first shop open. So stayed tuned on our Facebook for updates: www.facebook.com/thatcakeplace18
Has it been a smooth road?
Not at all…first was Facebook, they wouldn’t let me change my page’s name and I thought I was going to lose all my followers I gained over all these years. Next, there was NOT enough time in the day! I was staying up until very late and got up at 6am to go work two full time jobs and having 3 little ones to take care of as well was very challenging. But I finally got down to part time on my second job so now I have more time to focus on my business and my family. The latest bump in the road was almost getting an investor, in the end it didn’t work out but its okay because I know God has a plan for me and my business!
So, as you know, we’re impressed with That Cake Place – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Here at That Cake Place, we bake all our cakes from scratch only! We use all real ingredients, real butter, no shortening, no preservatives, only the freshest ingredients for our clients. We bake them to order, so they are fresh, moist and delicious! I specialize in doing custom cakes. Decorating is my favorite part of my job! I love to see my clients react from my cakes, just to see the happiness I could bring someone is the best feeling ever!
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love all the different types of people in the DFW and all the different things we have to do around here. I don’t like that the city of Fort Worth says I have to have a grease trap in a bakery. It just threw a curve ball for my plans.
