Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabby Nero.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started my life as a competitive martial artist. I competed all around the country and won several titles over the years. Through that, I found a love for performing and decided to try acting classes. I instantly fell in love with it and decided to pursue in college. After college, I got super lucky and worked on some awesome projects with some great people. From there, I went on to work as a casting assistant, which I absolutely love. This past summer on a break after working on Queen of the South and Alita: Battle Angel, I got an idea for a script and got started writing. Next thing I knew, I had written a short film! I spent this fall making the script come to life. I directed and produced it and it’s going to screen at Rack Focus Film Festival.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It took two days to film the Italian Dinner but a month of post-production. Editing was a nightmare! The files wouldn’t work on my computer and I thought I lost everything. After having an editor try to get them to work for three weeks, I got my DP Bekki to step in and luckily she saved the day and made sure my film got completed.
Hepburn Productions – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I have my own production company Hepburn Productions. Named after the late great Audrey Hepburn. I founded it when I made my 1st film The Italian Dinner. I’m proud that I was able to start it myself and make my vision come to life. What sets us apart is that I’m the driving force behind it and I make things happen. I have a passion for what I do and I love what I do.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Definitely making my Directorial debut and being the 1st official selection in Round 8 of Rack Focus Dallas.
