Meet Garry Lee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Garry Lee.

Garry, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve been making music for about five years. I’ve always been good with words. I used to write poems in high school and by the time I got to college I figured why not turn the poems into songs. I’d say I started taking it seriously after college. Since then, I’ve released three projects and a few singles. I feel like people are just now catching on to my music. I know I have a lot more work to do and I like the grind of being a new artist.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I wouldn’t say smooth but I also haven’t had too many obstacles. At this point, I think it is just about staying consistent and proving myself. I will say this Coronavirus set me back, though. I was getting love in the clubs for a few songs but now I’m forced to think of other ways to promote and keep pushing.

Please tell us about your music.
I’m a rapper out of Dallas, Texas. Aside from the club bangers, I make music about my life and relationships I have with people. I try to make music that people can relate to. I have a unique sound. I like to think of it as a southern melodic sound. Right now I’d say I’m most proud of my most recent project “Grieving Season”.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My biggest supporter has been my friends and family and friends from high school and college. I’d also give credit to my main producers, DJ Twalk and Jordan Tubbs for helping craft my sound.
