So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My first business venture was with my previous company “Fade” -an appointment booking app that helps men book with local barbers in their area.
After that venture ended, I maintained my relationships with the people I had met along the way in the beauty industry.
Beverly Coleman (CEO of NeoCurly) and I went to high school together and just kept in touch throughout our college years. On Instagram Bev was into hair and beauty she built a 160K following. We discussed business partnership ideas quite often. Those conversations are what led to us starting NeoCurly together.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
If there was a smooth road for me ever in life I would be very skeptical. I actually welcome obstacles in my life; not purposefully but just in general I believe getting through obstacles is key to growing as a person. I won’t go into detail but there was just a lot of delays with shipment and things not coming in on time. However, Bev and I just took that time to work on the business and the things that we could control.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up was great, as a kid I’m thankful to say that I had both parents in my life that loved me unconditionally. With the help of my parents and my sisters, I was taught about morals and ethics very early. Things like respect, leadership and accountability all are things I learned and still apply till this day.
