Meet Gayla Beaty of Fluffy’s Chicken in Cedar Hill

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gayla Beaty.

Gayla, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve spent years in finance and the real estate industry . I also owned my first business in 1997 opening a local beauty supply and hair salon in DeSoto,Tx. I was still working a full-time job and working part-time at the salon and a mother. As a young teenager I had always dreamed BIG. I always wanted more and pushed myself to make it happen.I took a lot of losses in my lifetime. Several years later I closed my business in Desoto and kept working at the Credit Union. I worked almost 15 years at the Credit Union and I finally said it’s time for a change in careers. I took a BIG JUMP! And I stepped out on Faith 🙌🏾

In 2014 we invested into a franchise of Henderson Chicken in Dallas, TX which is a local food chain. I knew nothing about the food industry this was a very scary and bumpy situation. All I have ever known was how to cook for my family which I am a very great cook. Me and my soulmate/ husband built this franchise from the ground up. We had no help or direction it was all a learn as you go process. We learned everything about it from cleaning fryers and cooking the food to perfection. After five years of blood sweat and tears, we decided to leave the franchise and establish a name and ownership of our own.

God spoke to us and said it’s time so we left and our new brand name is Fluffy’s Chicken and Fish. The biggest question we get is why we left the franchise and what Fluffy’s mean. Fluffy’s came from another name of a chicken if you had to pick your own chicken it would be fat and fluffy. The reason we left is because God said move.

Fluffy’s is located in the heart of Cedar Hill, Tx we offer great food at reasonable prices. The Catfish is our newest item and our customers  loves it. Having a small business has it’s  ups and downs but I’m willing to fight to  keep our business alive. I am also planning to open a 2nd location in the near future.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a small business owner is hard and you never know what each day may bring. It’s a struggle trying to make everyone happy.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We sell Fried Fish and Chicken with great seasoning and bomb fries. We are most proud of our food and being able to give back to the community.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Our proudest moment is when we changed our name and started our brand. It felt like I had just gave birth to a newborn baby all over again. We are so happy about the name and looking forward to the second location in 2020
