Today we’d like to introduce you to Giniva Perez.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m Giniva Pérez. I was born in Barranquilla, Colombia, and my passion for beauty started very young. I’ve always loved makeup, and that passion became my career. I started working in beauty more than 14 years ago. One of my first big steps was co-founding a Makeup Club in my city, which helped me realize I had an entrepreneurial spirit.
In 2018, I moved to the United States. Starting over in a new country wasn’t easy especially with the language but I kept going. I began working as a makeup artist and later expanded to brows, lashes, and skincare services.
Today, I run my own beauty studio and an online makeup academy. I’ve written several makeup books and created educational materials to teach new artists. What I love most is helping women feel confident not just in their look, but also in their potential.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of the biggest challenges was moving to the U.S. and starting over from zero—new country, new language, no clients. I had to rebuild everything from scratch.
But Every obstacle helped shape the studio and academy I run today.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As a beauty artist, I don’t just do makeup or brows. I help women feel good about themselves. When a client or student comes to me, I want her to feel loved, seen, and stronger.
What makes me different is how I teach. I don’t just give services, I give confidence. I’ve written books about makeup, color theory, and correction. I also have my own online academy and I’m a licensed esthetics instructor in North Carolina. I teach in a way that’s easy to understand, with love and patience.
I speak Spanish and English, so I can help women from different countries and cultures feel welcome. That’s very special to me.
But what makes me most proud is staying close to my purpose: helping women grow through beauty, learning, and faith. Every face I touch and every class I give is part of that.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I came directly to Charlotte from my city in Colombia, and this city received me with open arms. I’m very thankful for the people here. I never had a problem with anybody people are kind and respectful, and I love that.
Another thing I really like is the weather. We have the four seasons here, and I enjoy watching how everything changes the trees, the clothes, the colors. I don’t like doing the same thing all my life, so seeing the seasons change makes me feel happy and inspired.
What I like the least? Maybe the traffic sometimes, but honestly, I love Charlotte. It’s been a big blessing for me and my family.
