Meet Glen Houston of Glen Houston’s Painting

Today we’d like to introduce you to Glen Houston.

Glen, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Started painting homes with friends after graduating from high school in 1977. Soon joined the Painters Union in Los Angeles and began my apprenticeship. Moved to Texas & transferred into the Dallas Painters Union, where I learned to do artistic specialty painting in the Hyland Park area. I worked for Ross Perot, Mayor Straus, Trammel Crow, & the Hunt family. Helped paint the Galleria, Las Colinas & many of the high rises in downtown Dallas.

I started my own painting business in 1988 serving homeowners in North Dallas & Collin County. I was chosen to paint the home & offices of the President of Sherwin Williams.

I use a variety of mediums to create specialty finishes. Paint, glaze, metallic, plasters. I have been trained by Master Painters in the Painters Union. I can make paint look like marble stone or woodgrain.

As styles change, I create new samples to keep up with the demand.

In 2004, my wife Cheryle Houston came to work with me. She added a feminine decorative touch & attention to detail that completed our team.

Has it been a smooth road?
Always the challenge of meeting the decorative needs of the most discriminating homeowners, builders & decorators. Creating what others imagine is job.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We are unique. The paint techniques I use have been passed down to me from painters who learned them from others. Master Painters. The Painters Union is gone now, (in Dallas) and with it, apprenticeship.

We specialize in meeting the decorative painting needs of homeowners.

We have a portfolio expansive enough to do online consultation. I can receive pictures of a customer’s cabinets or walls & send them back pictures of options that will work with their decor. Often, we can pull an existing sample and pair it with color options. We are paint decorators.

We often work with other painting contractors, pairing our artistic skills with their production painting enabling us to give the homeowner a timely product.

We are a small husband & wife team. Our customers become our friends. We spend anywhere from a day to a month in their homes. We have incredible repeat business. All of it is word of mouth.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Dallas is one of the best business climates in the country. People love Dallas & they love their homes.
