Today we’d like to introduce you to Grant Daniels.
Grant, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started my own photography business in high school, specializing in seniors and commercial projects. As my business began to grow, I was introduced to wedding photography. This area of photography was previously tagged as cheesy and boring to me, but as I shot my first few weddings, I began to become inspired by bending + breaking the rules of traditional approaches. My business boomed, and I was shooting 40+ wedding per year by my senior year of college. I married my wife, Laine, and she joined the business in early 2015. We’ve been serving clients worldwide for three and a half years now as a husband + wife team. This April, we will be launching The Darkroom, a natural light studio in Fort Worth for photographers and creatives.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the hardest changes we’ve had to make is choosing quality over quantity. In 2015 we audited our client experience and realized more time needed to be committed to building relationships and developing rapport with our couples. We now only shoot 25 weddings per year. So, in practice, we turn down quite a bit of work because we value the quality of relationships and want to give our best to every client.
Grant Daniels Photography – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We specialize in wedding + portrait photography. We are known for our highly relational approach to photography and believe a persons true personality shines when they are comfortable and feel a connection with their photographer. We believe wedding photography is important, but the covenant is the most important part of the wedding to us.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment is/was the opportunity to work with my wife, Laine. She brings so much value to our business and keeps my creative soul anchored.
