Today we’d like to introduce you to Grant Stinchfield.
Grant, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started in main stream local television traveling the country from station to station. I was working for WNBC in New York on 9/11 and was one of the first reporters to get to ground zero. That day shaped who I am and where my career would soon go. I ended up working in Dallas for NBC5 for 8 years before starting my own business, running for Congress as a Republican and starting a conservative talk radio show.
Over the past 7 years I have started and sold a number of different businesses, my latest venture is a trucking company that contracts with a fortune 500 company to move goods across the southwest region and beyond. My passion still lies with politics and the fight for freedom in America. I recently gave up doing afternoon drive on 570 KLIF to focus on my work at NRATV. I host “Stinchfield” every morning starting at 8am and it’s streamed on line at NRATV.com as well as Apple TV, Roku, Chromecast and Amazon.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I am blessed to say I always tried to surround myself with decent people. From family to friends and co-workers, I always had support in my quest to live out my dreams. I find it to be my duty and obligation to help people live out their dreams too.
My ultimate dream came true when The National Rifle Association came calling to help them launch NRATV. It is an amazing organization and the work that I do there helps to insure that my son will have the ability to live out his dreams too.
People vilify us because they don’t understand us. The 2nd Amendment has become a polarizing issue thanks to the media I once worked in. Guns in the hands of good people are the great equalizer which is why there are no other rights without the 2nd.
It is disheartening to be called a terrorist and a child killer when I saw the evil of terror first hand on 9/11 and work everyday to insure that we can protect ourselves from it. I’m a Dad who wants nothing more than to keep my kid safe. The disagreement comes from how we do that.
NRA TV and GPS LineHaul, Inc. – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I have always been known to speak my mind in an open, honest and direct fashion. It angers some people, but I am ok with that. At least they are listening (or watching). My goal is simply to get people to think.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is happiness. Each person defines success differently. Money is important, and my entrepreneurial endeavors are about insuring my financial future and building a business that I can one day leave to my son. But beyond money, my success is measured by my ability to invoke change and thought. When someone shakes my hand and says “thank you for pushing back” it makes my day. I am humbled at the fact people would choose me to listen to on the radio or watch on TV. When someone tells you that sit in their garage before going inside because they want to hear the rest of what I have to say, that is success.
Which brings us to the American Dream, what is it? To me the American dream is about being able to pay your bills. Take your family out to dinner once or twice a week. The American dream means you can take a nice vacation. It’s about not worrying about how you are going to pay to fix your car if it breaks down. The American dream is not about becoming a billionaire. It’s about doing what you love in life. It’s about having all of what you need and some of what you want.
I am living my American dream. And I thank Texas for the opportunity to succeed here.
