Today we’d like to introduce you to Greg Bennett.
Greg started his career as a consultant for the construction industry before leading and managing sales teams in North America and globally at TruSeal Technologies and JLG’s Caterpillar Alliance Group prior to joining Point of Rental Software. Greg joined the Point of Rental team in 2011, directing sales activities in North America and spearheading office expansions into the UK and Australia while developing Point of Rental’s worldwide customer base.
Under his leadership, the company has been listed on the Inc. 5000 Fastest Growing Companies three times in the past four years and has expanded to serve more than 4,800 businesses in more than 75 countries worldwide. From site to store to software, he’s seen every aspect of the construction and equipment rental industries, giving him an uncommon level of insight into effective equipment rental management.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Most things worthwhile are rarely easy; however, continuously educating myself and training employees while creating a positive work environment where consistent communication and creative problem solving is practiced helps to build the “smooth road” you are asking me about. Any leader that can effectively listen to both verbal and non-verbal information with clarity, confidence, empathy, and respect is bound to give their employees appropriate feedback and guide them to success.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Point of Rental Software – what should we know?
In 1983, a team of NASA employees opened a rental store in Texas. True story. Existing rental technology was clunky, slow, and too unreliable for the new business owners who had previously worked on software for the lunar landing. Thus, Point of Rental was born. Behind the counter of that single-location rental operation, real rental experience and rocket science was combined in an intuitive software designed to meet the needs of their growing business.
Technology has changed greatly since we sold our first system in 1984 but the core values that drive us haven’t. We’ve grown rapidly since then and we currently employ over 100 team members who provide award-winning software and service to thousands of companies around the world. The thing I’m personally most proud of is our ability to continue to provide unparalleled customer support while experiencing incredible growth. Being named to SMU Cox’s School of Business Top 100 Companies in Dallas after receiving Inc. 5000’s Fastest Growing Companies 3 of the last 4 years has been quite an accomplishment for our team; however, the fact that our customers continuously refer other construction, party, and equipment rental companies to our team is truly humbling.
