Meet Greg Potts of Social Realty in Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Greg Potts.

Greg, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started in real estate in 2001 at the age of 24 in Dallas TX. My first real estate job with was with a local based home builder and I was hired to be a new home sales person. I worked in the new home industry with 3 different builders in sales and management for the next 10 years. I was recruited to become a realtor and work in residential real estate by Spalding Pyron at Keller Williams in November of 2012. In November of 2015 at K.W. we had a mandatory team building event at the office to create a “vision board”. Personally at the time I thought it was a silly waste of time but it was mandatory so I attended. It was at that time that I was forced to look 20 years down the road and envision what I would be doing and where I would be at the age of 60-ish. That is when I believe God took over and showed me the vision that He had for me. He showed me that if I were to start a real estate brokerage now with the foundation focus of giving back on every transaction and could build it into half the size of Keller Williams in 20 years (50,000 Agents), the philanthropic outreach would be nothing short of miraculous. So, that is exactly what I did. Social Realty was born in April of 2016. Social Realty now has 7 agents with a goal to reach 10 agents by April 1 of 2018. After a year and a half of preparing the foundation of our brokerage we are now set and ready to scale by adding local real estate agents to the brokerage. At Social Realty our agents are encouraged to give back a portion of their commission on every transaction to a cause, charity, ministry etc… That is near and dear to their clients’ hearts. We then encourage our clients to give with us by matching our donations as well if they feel led to do so. We call this “SocialAnthropy”. We have a future vision of starting conversations through social media of all of the organizations we give to and help spread the word about philanthropic causes people may not know even exist. I know I have learned about a few crazy ones! LOL. Okay so that is it in a nutshell.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No it has not.

-I started the company with my friend Chris Cates and we had to part ways early in the process. He was instrumental in helping me get Social up and running and luckily we are still friends today.

-Running a brokerage on a spreadsheet was tasking once we started to grow and be successful. Transitioning from the spreadsheet to the new brokerage software and getting it to work with our down-line recruiting formulas took a long time to set up.

– Being a full time realtor, husband, father and owning a brokerage is still an ongoing challenge. I am ready to grow so that I can focus 100% on scaling and helping the agents recruit for Social Realty. (The more the agents recruit other agents, the more passive income they will make.)

Please tell us about Social Realty.
-We specialize in residential real estate helping buyers and sellers of residential property.
-We are known for giving back on every transaction to charitable causes near and dear to our clients hearts.
-I am most proud of the foundation agents who have poured their time and energy into Social Realty believing in the vision of Social Realty.
-20 year vision of SocialAnthropy. – Once we hit 50,000 agents, if every agent just sells one home in one month that would be $12.5 Million dollars given back to 50,000 charities.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Saved more money! LOL
