Meet Dr. Gurkiran Virdee of Vision Life OD in Euless

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Gurkiran Virdee.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Dr. Virdee. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My passion started at the age of six when I had my first eye examination. I still remember the excitement and nervousness I felt as I sat down on the big exam chair. A few days later, I received my first pair of eyeglasses. My world had forever changed. At a young age, I had learned the importance of vision.

Fast forward, I graduated Optometry school in 2014, moved to Texas in 2016, and in 2020, I was able to open up my own Optometry office. I am now the proud owner and Optometrist at Vision Life OD in Euless, TX.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Accomplishing my goals in the midst of relocating to a new city, trying to start a family, and building a new support system definitely made things more challenging. It took a few years of transitioning and building confidence for me to be able to move forward with opening my office.

Vision Life OD – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Vision Life OD is a primary care optometry office. I specialize in primary eye care, including refractive disorders, contact lenses, computer vision syndrome, dry eye syndrome, eye infections, macular degeneration, glaucoma, cataracts, and other retinal disorders.

An eye exam doesn’t always need to be stressful. As a practitioner, my goal is to be attentive and listen to each patient and their needs. A common misconception is that all lenses or contact lenses are the same. I see so many patients that say contacts don’t work for them or that they don’t like eyeglasses because of problems in the past. Luckily, we live in an age where technology is constantly evolving and I am mindful of this in the products I prescribe. I am not afraid of trial and error and there are times where I have a patient try every contact lens in the office just to find the right ones.

What I am most proud of as a new company is our relaxed office vibe. When a patient walks into our office, my staff and I do our best to keep things friendly and positive. We strive to be your neighborhood eye care and eyewear destination!

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I feel that there are many levels of success. Opening up my office was the first part of my goal; however, my main marker for success will be in a few years when I have patients choosing to return to me and my office for their eye care needs.
