Today we’d like to introduce you to Haley Carter-Hooper.
Haley, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
People often ask how Luxury Esthetics & Artistry came to fruition. My answer is simple. I love the arts and don’t want to set perimeters on my creativity and love for beauty! I found my passion for dance after joining the Pop Warner’s Oak Cliff Red Skin Dance Team in 7th grade, and haven’t been able to escape the arts since! I then went on to graduated from Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts as a dance major and started my professional dance career soon after. I’ve been featured in everything from music videos to live performances to sidelines of football stadiums. While performing is my passion, I’ve found a different reward in artistic direction and creating choreography. I love being able to see my visions come to life. Creating the moment can be just as beautiful as living in it. I was exposed to the esthetics industry after working as the Operations Manager for a medical spa and knew that the ability to change lives and enhance one’s appearance was also for me. After receiving my esthetics license, I laid the foundation for Luxury Esthetics & Artistry!
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
Luxury Esthetics & Artistry is your “one stop shop for all things beauty, esthetic, and artistic”! Whether you need clear skin, a classic makeup look, or choreography for a commercial, L.E.A wants to assist you! As a licensed esthetician and professional dancer/choreographer, my ultimate goal is to provide quality service and luxury experience to each and every one of my clients. My mission is to provide the latest in skincare technology and services and the most innovative and creative concepts in choreography and artistic direction. The “Esthetic” side of my practice offers an array of skin care treatments including Customized and Microdermabrasion Facials, Micropen and Dermaplane Treatments, and Chemical Peels that address acne, discoloration, and aging. I’m also a licensed Lash and Makeup Artist and specialize in Individual Lash Extensions, Special Occasion, and Special Effects Makeup Looks. The “Artistry” aspect of my business brings movement and visions to life! L.E.A. concentrates on casting and creating choreography for projects like concerts, music videos, and musicals. I also offer artistic development and direction. My goal is to contribute to the arts industry in the Dallas metroplex. So often our local talent feels the need to take their gifts elsewhere, and my hope is to encourage, support, and be the thriving force that our talent needs to stay here and become successful.
Have things improved for artists? What should cities do to empower artists?
I feel like every aspect of the industry is changing and evolving so quickly. Artists have such an accessible platform to display their talents. They can utilize outlets like Instagram, FaceBook, and Youtube to reach targeted audiences and it’s giving artists a chance to take control over their career and the pace in which it moves. I love the versatility of creators. You can be yourself or create a completely different character. Being ratchet is accepted, being mysterious is appreciated, and being original is allowed. On the contrary, I feel like some of our generations has lost the value of hard work and true talent. Some influencers are finding temporary success based on the number of likes and followers instead of the content of their creativity. It’s almost become a game of who can get the most likes and “come up” the fastest. I’m a true believer in the theory, “It’s not who did it first (or fastest), it who did it right.” While I aim to keep up with the times, I also want to stay true to my artist’s heart. I think specifically for our local artist, it’s important for us to remain humble and remain home! I think there is such beauty is collaboration and that there is enough for everyone to eat. There is strength in numbers, and I hope that our local artists can mature their career locally so that the DFW area can finally get the recognition we deserve. There has been so much talent that has been cultivated here that has felt the need to leave in order to succeed. But for one second imagine if they all stayed here. Dallas would be one of the next up and coming cities of the arts. That is my desire for our artists.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
A lot of my work can be viewed on social media outlets like Instagram. My pages are @luxuryesthetics.artistry and @the.real.esti.of.dallas. At this stage in my career, any support is appreciated and never taken for granted. I love the idea of collaborating. If you’re a singer, dancer, photographer, MUA, I’d love to work with you. People can support my business by booking either my esthetic or artistic services. If you’ve never had a Luxury Facial, I encourage you to treat yourself. Skincare is self-care, and my profession is designed to take care of you. If you have an event coming up and need to be glammed up, book an appointment! If you have an upcoming project and need assistance bringing your vision to life, I’d love to create these moments with you. Service is my calling, and I’ve made the commitment to serve others through my line of work.
