Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Harvey Castro.
Dr. Castro is an exceptionally trained emergency room physician who has demonstrated the ability to forge, lead, and motivate outstanding healthcare teams by providing the most advanced healthcare services to local and outward communities throughout Texas.
Dr. Castro has been voted “Best Doctor” of 2014-2017 by D Magazine and is certified by The American Board of Emergency Medicine and the American College of Emergency Physicians. After completing his residency, Dr. Castro practiced Family Medicine at Methodist Hospital before deciding to pursue Emergency Medicine at The Colony ER.
During Dr. Castro’s professional career, he has pursued many endeavors by creating a multitude of healthcare applications for iPhone and android phones, authored several medical publications, and additionally served as a consultant for several healthcare companies. He has also been a medical correspondent for Telemundo and Univision to approach and engage the Hispanic and Latino community members in health care promotion. As an emergency room physician employed in a diversified, yet demanding emergency room environment, he has now immersed himself at the Colony ER, where he can provide more innovated, individualized patient care and spend more time with each patient.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I grew up in a rough part of NYC, my mother had me as a teenager and my father was never in my life. I joined the military to help pay for college and then became the first generation born in the USA to go to college from my family. I became an ER doctor and decided that I was not happy in the main ER because I could not spend time with my patients and left to work at the Colony ER to be able to take care of patients the way I would want my family to be taken care of. It has been a rough road to get here but I am so happy when patients say they got the best care at the Colony ER.

We are a full ER open 24/7, we can take care of any emergency. We are all board-certified ER docs. I am proud to say we are like no other ER … we are focus on patients and do more for our patients. Our business model is “do the right thing” and we make sure our patients always get the best care.
What were you like growing up?
I have always been an entrepreneur, started my first business when I was 16. I would “diagnosis and treat family and friends with vitamins.” I would always find myself at family reunions with the adults as a child and always wanted to give my opinion on everything lol!
