Meet Heather Galvan. CEO, LMT, LMTI, RDA of Body Slimplicity, LLC & Body Secrets Academy, Inc

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Galvan. CEO, LMT, LMTI, RDA.

Hi Heather, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I spent 24 years in dentistry, working across nearly every facet of the field—from hospital dental assisting to ultimately serving as Chief Operating Officer for a dental corporation. Dentistry shaped my work ethic, leadership skills, and understanding of patient care, but after more than two decades, I experienced profound professional burnout. I knew I needed a change—one that still allowed me to help people heal, but in a more holistic and sustainable way.
In 2018, I founded Body Slimplicity LLC, marking the beginning of my transition into body contouring and wellness. What started as an entrepreneurial pivot quickly became a deeper calling. As I worked hands-on with clients, I became increasingly curious about the body’s natural systems—particularly the lymphatic system—and its critical role in healing, detoxification, and post-surgical recovery.
That curiosity evolved into a learning journey that changed the trajectory of my career. I immersed myself in advanced body contouring techniques, lymphatic health, and post-operative recovery protocols. I saw firsthand how proper lymphatic support could dramatically impact a patient’s comfort, results, and overall recovery experience. More importantly, I discovered a profound passion for supporting women and men through some of their most vulnerable healing moments.
In 2020, I established Body Secrets Academy, driven by a desire to elevate industry standards and provide evidence-informed education for practitioners entering the post-surgical and lymphatic care space. Education became just as important to me as hands-on work—because patients deserve knowledgeable, properly trained providers.
To further serve post-surgical patients from the very start of their recovery, I became a Licensed Massage Therapist in 2022. This allowed me to work clinically and compliantly with surgical patients, ensuring their aftercare was both safe and effective. Bridging my clinical background with therapeutic massage gave me a unique lens—combining structure, precision, and compassion.
In 2023, I achieved board credentialing as a Continuing Education (CEU) Instructor, solidifying my role as both a clinician and educator. Today, my work sits at the intersection of post-surgical recovery, lymphatic health, and professional education. My mission is simple: to help patients heal better and to ensure practitioners are equipped with the knowledge and integrity this work demands.
What began as burnout ultimately became purpose—and a renewed commitment to healing, education, and advocacy within the recovery and wellness space.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of the most significant challenges I faced was leaving a 24-year career in dentistry—a field where I had built credibility, leadership authority, and operational expertise. With a bachelor’s degree in business and a minor in operations, I was accustomed to structured systems, regulatory oversight, and clearly defined standards. Transitioning into the body contouring and post-surgical recovery space meant stepping into an industry that often lacked those same operational frameworks.
While my business and operations background gave me a strong foundation, it also made the gaps in education, compliance, and patient safety impossible to ignore. I encountered widespread misinformation, inconsistent training, and practices that conflicted with everything I understood about ethical, patient-centered care. Reconciling my clinical mindset with an unregulated landscape was both frustrating and challenging—especially when advocating for higher standards was not always welcomed.
Entrepreneurship brought its own obstacles. Building Body Slimplicity LLC required financial risk, constant adaptation, and learning to lead in a space where credibility had to be earned repeatedly. Even with a business degree, real-world application meant navigating uncertainty, scaling responsibly, and making difficult decisions without a blueprint.
Launching Body Secrets Academy, INC in 2020, during the height of the pandemic, tested my resilience further. Establishing an educational platform in a time of global disruption required clarity, discipline, and unwavering commitment to integrity. My operations background pushed me to create structured, evidence-informed programs—even when doing so meant challenging industry norms and facing resistance.
Returning to school to become a Licensed Massage Therapist in 2022 was another humbling challenge. Balancing formal education, clinical requirements, and business ownership demanded sacrifice and perseverance. Earning national board credentialing through NCBTMB as a CEU instructor in 2023 required meeting rigorous standards and maintaining accountability at the highest level.
Each obstacle reinforced my purpose. My business and operations training taught me how to build systems—but this journey taught me how to build trust, advocate for safety, and lead with intention. The challenges shaped not only my career path, but my commitment to elevating standards in post-surgical recovery and professional education.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Body Slimplicity, LLC & Body Secrets Academy, Inc?
My work spans both clinical care and professional education, all centered around post-surgical recovery, lymphatic health, and ethical body contouring. Through Body Slimplicity LLC, I provide hands-on post-operative and lymphatic therapy designed to support the body’s natural healing process, improve comfort, and protect surgical outcomes. My specialty is working with patients from the earliest stages of recovery—when proper care matters most and misinformation can be harmful.
What sets my work apart is my background. With 24 years in dentistry, a bachelor’s degree in business with a minor in operations, and licensure as a massage therapist, I approach recovery through a clinical, structured lens. I focus on safety, anatomy, and evidence-informed techniques rather than trends. Every protocol I use is intentional, ethical, and aligned with the body’s physiology—not shortcuts or cosmetic promises.
In 2020, I founded Body Secrets Academy, INC to address a major gap in the industry: the lack of standardized, credible education in post-surgical and lymphatic care. The Academy provides structured training and continuing education for practitioners who want to work responsibly with post-operative clients. In 2023, I became a board-credentialed CEU instructor, allowing me to formally contribute to raising professional standards across the field.
I am most proud of building a brand rooted in trust, integrity, and education. Body Slimplicity and Body Secrets Academy are known for prioritizing patient safety, ethical practice, and long-term outcomes over aesthetics alone. We are often sought out by clients who have experienced inadequate or incorrect aftercare elsewhere and are looking for informed, compassionate support.
What I want readers to know is that post-surgical recovery is not an add-on—it is a critical phase of healing that deserves qualified care. My brand exists to protect patients during that vulnerable time and to equip practitioners with the knowledge required to do this work correctly. At its core, everything we offer—services, education, and advocacy—is designed to help people heal better and to elevate standards within the recovery and wellness space.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My biggest advice is to slow down and prioritize education over speed. Quick certifications and trends may look appealing, but long-term success comes from understanding the body, respecting scope of practice, and committing to ethical care.
I also wish I had realized sooner that credibility takes time. Focus on doing the work correctly, even when it feels slower or less visible. Reputation will always outlast hype.
Finally, build systems and boundaries early—clear protocols, documentation, and structure protect both you and your clients. And don’t be afraid to evolve. Returning to school or raising your standards is never a step backward; it’s a commitment to excellence.
