Meet Heather Wyrick of Avis Lane Boutique in North Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Wyrick.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Heather. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Fashion is something that has always been a passion. In collage I enrolled in the fashion program at the university I attended. My dream was to move to New York and work in the fashion industry. Then life happened and that dream was left behind. Owning my own boutique is something that I have thought about for years. I never had the guts to make that move, until I was forced to. I was in between jobs. I had other options, I could go back to school, continue down the career path I was at currently. It was important to me that I find something that drives me, something that I was passionate about. I already knew the answer but I guess I needed to talk myself into it. It’s scary jumping into something new, at the same time so rewarding. I was really going to start something that I have only dreamt of!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No. It hasn’t been an easy at all. There are so many variables that go into owning your own boutique. Exposure! Gosh, that’s been the hardest thing. Trying to stand out in a saturated market. It’s important to separate yourself from another boutique. To sell the brands that represent what your name stands for. Trying to find brands to work with that help me dress the women that I envisioned. Sizing is always something that is tricky. It’s important to me to offer brands that have the proper sizing as well as quality.

Please tell us about your business.
I think I speak for most when I say, when you look your best you feel your best. I offer daytime to evening wear. Women wear so many different hats. A day in the life of a women… In just one day a woman will change their outfits several times, work attire, gym attire, kids game attire, comfy clothes, date night, pjs. I offer staples in your closet, pieces that will help fill the gap.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Growth. I’m looking forward to expanding this business.
