Today we’d like to introduce you to Holly Turner.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Life used to be pretty ordinary. We thought we fit the profile of the typical American family. Each had a career, Toby an employee of the USPS and I was a coach. In 2010, while counselors at church camp with the youth from our previous church, we began to feel God leading us into ministry.
As most who are called to take such a spiritual journey would tell you, it is never about the convenience of the individual but about God’s timing. A year quickly passed as we continued to serve at our church. In July 2011 after youth camp, Toby and I made it public our family had fully surrendered to whatever God had in store for the 4 of us. In just a matter of weeks the phone started to ring. It was from a friend, who had a friend that told us this young woman was having a baby and she would not be able to care for her. The question was asked, “Can You?”
In September 2011, a baby girl was born. “I was blessed to be able to be in the delivery room with her and her mother”. They gave the baby girl the name, Nevaeh (Heaven spelled backward), because we believed she was truly a gift from heaven. Her middle name is Faith, because we took a leap of faith taking her and following our hearts in what God had called us to do. I resigned from my position as a coach to give full- time attention to the baby and the new ministry God had given us. From there, our family’s budget began to suffer, but we trusted that God would provide as we followed His calling. We are strictly a faith-based 501(c) 3 non-profit, meaning we receive no government or state funding. Still uncertain that this was our calling, a little more than a year went by before receiving another call. It was another newborn baby, and the state would be taking custody within three hours if our family did not take her. Within those three hours, our family expanded by one. Her name is Lily Hope.
Within the next year, we were blessed with a baby boy, Isaiah, baby girl, Chloe, and baby girl, Hailey. Recently, we have been blessed with a baby boy. He may or may not be here forever, but we love him while God has placed him with us. We have also taken in an 18 yr. old young lady and helping teach her some life lessons and get her on the right path to be a successful adult. This typical American family of four that surrendered to the call of God has now grown to an extraordinary family of 11…..for now.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Smooth road, not at all, It is easy to love and sacrifice every ounce of me for the kiddos, but the struggles are always there, The largest struggle is finances as you can imagine with a family of 11, We have outgrown our home and our vehicle. Our prayer is that God will provide these things in His timing. Other struggles are dealing with the damage the mother did as far as drug abuse. These babies were all born addicted to some type of drug. The school age children have hurdles to clear and have to try really hard to overcome things they cannot help. We get each of them all the extra help they need to try to give them the best education possible.
Faith Hope Family – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are a non-profit 501c3 children’s home. We take in children whose parents are unable or unwilling to provide for them. We are proud to do what we do to try and save as many babies as possible.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success in our life is teaching these kids to love, how to be loved, what love is and give them security, Christian home, stable home, loving home and a great education.
