Today we’d like to introduce you to Honie Gold.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Honie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started making music when I was eight. I later then found a greater love for rap when I turned thirteen, and haven’t put my pen down since. I came across Left Eye From TLC around that time. And fell in love with the late 80s and 90s style of rap. That and Nicki Minaj, of course, played a big role in my inspiration towards rap.
Has it been a smooth road?
I had stage fright all the way up until I dropped a single called “SWITCH UP.” I always wanted to touch a stage but was too scared, so my Aunt Patrice took me under her wing as my first manager. Booked me a performance at a club here in Dallas. And from there, I’ve never had stage fright again. I’d say that was one of my biggest obstacles as an artist. Because all artists are “born on stage, “ but I was to chicken. So I’m really glad she was there for me. She probably birthed my career, had I have not gone up there and performed. I’d probably still have stage fright to this day. Guess we’ll never know.
Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I’m an all-around entertainer, born in Dallas, TX, but I’m mainly known for being a rapper. I grew up on the East Side of Dallas. In the 223 area. As far as being proud of something. I honestly think I would say I’m proud to be from Dallas. That might sound corny but watch me be the Queen of Dallas with this rap shit.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
In 5-10 years. I pray that I’m apart of the rap game. And I have a solid spot in the game, as a respected artist. With that, I hope that my music goes far, and touches as many people as it can.
