Hi Hosni, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I’ve been working in the service industry for as long as I can remember! I’m an amazing bartender! When covid happened and everything was shut down I got laid off and I tried to pick up a new hobby to fill my time! I’ve always liked art & I used to draw a lot when I was a kid. So, I bought a tattoo machine off of Amazon to try and see if I’d be any good or if I’d like it! Turns out I’m a natural lol! I loved it more than anything I’ve ever done in my life! I started doing it for fun at first. Free as well! You know just for friends and family here and there! Slowly but surely people started to reach out to me to get tattooed because they’d have seen my work somewhere! So, I started actually taking it seriously and investing in myself! I got myself a legit space to work & I bought the best quality equipment and I started doing it on the side while I had my full-time job bartending in deep Ellum! I got to a point where I started getting really good and people would always tell me how talented they thought I was! I personally felt for a long time that I used to sell myself short! I didn’t believe I was as good as people said! A few months ago, I randomly got connected with Wenbo Gao owner of 6 tattoo studio in Addison. He liked my work, interviewed me & offered me a full-time spot working at his shop and learning from him! It was such a surreal moment for me! I was all of a sudden put in a spot where I had to make a decision about how seriously did, I want this as a career & how much was I willing to invest. I quit my job and invested my full-time tattooing and learning from a tattoo master! It was by far the best decision I made for myself! I’ve been growing and thriving insanely! Sometimes I literally surprise myself looking back at how good I got and how fast I grew in no time. It’s been a life-changing experience & every day’s been an amazing journey of growth and success! I’m truly blessed to be where I am today! Chasing my dreams! Doing what I love. Never looked back! ZERO REGRETS!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been an amazing smooth road full of growth and adventure! Obviously, nothing is always immediately smooth!
When I used to bartend in deep Ellum the money was AMAZING!
When I first decided to give that up and start tattooing full time it was a huge financial setback! But I always told myself and believed that this investment is for the future not for now! I used to tell myself it’s ok! I’m not worried about how much money I make now, because I KNOW how much I’ll be making in a year or two!
And sure, enough the growth and progression started! And it was a lot faster than what I anticipated. Since then, it’s been a smooth road! I’m not where I want to be yet, but I can literally see my future with my own eyes & it’s very bright and exciting!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a tattoo artist! I do a variety of work including black & grey, color, cartoon, calligraphy including English & Arabic. I actually grew up in the Middle East so I speak, read & write Arabic fluently so I love designing and doing unique Arabic tattoos!
I aim to be some known for doing realism as it’s my favorite style! I’ve been learning it slowly but surely!
It’s been a journey & I’m a very dedicated person. I’m beyond passionate about what I do and I love my life! I’m also very competitive and I always want to be the BEST at what I do! I will never settle for being mediocre & I always push myself to be better!
One day in the near future I’m gonna be a very known and highly sought out tattoo artist! Remember that I said that here & now!
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I’ve always had a very outgoing and creative personality! I was always outspoken, never shy, and always different! Never felt the need to be like anyone else to blend in or be accepted! I always had my own thoughts about things and I stood by them! I loved animals my whole life. Still do. And I loved to draw. It always brought me peace. I used to sketch natural scenery for hours!
Pricing:
- Hourly rate 125$/hr as of now! Catch me before I get more expensive lol. The better I get at my job the higher my prices will keep going.
- 100$ minimum charge
- I do custom designs for some of my client’s tattoos. Those range from 50$ up to 150$ depending on the design.
- The only times you’d catch me doing tattoos for cheaper than any of that is during special flash events!
