Meet Lachelle Goodrich of iLegacy Consulting and Counseling in Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lachelle Goodrich.

Lachelle, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Ive always had a niche for being a voice for the voiceless and empowering others to find and utilize their voice. In addition, people are naturally attracted to me regarding a major life decision and constructing a success plan. With much debate between social work and counseling, I decided to pursue my masters in professional counseling. Which ended up being the best educational decision Ive made.

Giving people hope through allowing them to find heir voice in the midst of life adversity or providing healing to a child that has experience adverse childhood trauma. Im in it to remove the stigma of therapy not only to the black community but to people in general that hesitate or struggle with being vulnerable enough to work through the process.

In addition, to my own private practice, I am an active community advocate in the Fort Worth communities that are plagued by senseless violence. Therefore, from community engagement to youth and parent education, I consider doing my part to encourage a better community for the next generation.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road has not been a smooth road, it has been rocky, but rewarding road. Although, there are several therapists in the DFW area I think because of the nature of the business, it can seem very lonely. However, I have been graced with a few therapists that have made this road a little less bumpy. Initially, I struggled with how to start my business and how to become a contracted therapist with insurance companies, etc. With me knowing that If I want to reach the population of individuals and families, me taking insurance was a most. Thankful for my mentors that have assisted me along the way.

We’d love to hear more about your business.

What were you like growing up?
I’ve always been an outspoken individual until many people tried to suppress that with their negative words or conversations of me being bossy or a know it all. Which then made me retreat to being a great behind the scenes worker. It was not until in my late 20’s early 30’s that I finally didn’t care about what people said and I began to be my best authentic self. When it came to counseling and helping others on their journey, what people had to study hard for, came to me naturally. Therefore, I vowed to be the best authentic me.
