India, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Being a business owner has always been a dream of mine. When I was growing up, my parents owned a gift shop and I was able to witness firsthand how rewarding it is to own your own business. I have always had a passion for art. My love for typography and graphic design started when I was attending high school and has continued to grow since! After graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School in East Dallas, I attended art school in Santa Fe, New Mexico to further explore my creative side and dive into the art world. I moved back to Dallas about a year ago to continue to grow Whiski Designs. I am proud to own a business in Dallas, Texas. I feel like the Dallas community really supports small businesses and that means so much. Whiski Designs is based in Deep Ellum, where I recently painted a mural. We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
When starting a business, you go into it knowing that there are going to be bumps in the road. If it were easy, everyone would do it! Building a business takes time and patience. It has taken years for Whiski Designs to be where it is today – it didn’t happen overnight. Sure, there are small struggles here and there when owning a business, but there is nothing more rewarding. I’m lucky to have my parents by my side, as they have experience when it comes to being small business owners.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Whiski Designs – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Whiski Designs is known for hand-lettered and drawn original designs and graphics. You can find my designs on greeting cards, t-shirts, frameable art prints, kitchen towels, baby onesies, stickers, beer koozies, and more! We offer a large selection of fun and affordable gift items for you and your friends to enjoy! all of my designs are original and hand drawn, and I believe that’s what makes Whiski Designs stand out from others. I am proud to say that my products are designed and made in Texas. It is very important to me to support other small businesses when developing new products.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We currently set up at The Dallas Farmers Market every weekend under The Shed and have wholesale accounts across the U.S. I plan on introducing many more fun new products this year, and continue to grow my wholesale business as well. Most importantly, I am excited to continue to expand my business and work with customers on custom projects, new murals, and more.
