Hi ItsErnie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I’ve been taking my music career seriously for about 4 – 5 years now. Things really took off when I started working with Trnd music over 2 years ago. It’s opened a lot of doors and they have introduced me to a flourishing music community. I’ve really built a fan base and following from the ground up. I’m originally from Detroit Michigan but now call Fort Worth home. I am very grateful and blessed to be in the position I’m in. It’s so rewarding to be able to earn money from my music and connecting with people.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been smooth. There’s a lot of ups and downs in music. Especially in Hip hop. The past five years I’ve lived in 3 different states. I’ve had numerous jobs and it was a challenge to stay focused at times. All my music is about my life so that reflects in the songs I write.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
There’s a lot of lanes in hip hop and I pride myself in being versatile. My catalog has songs where I sing and rap over different beats and styles. My hooks are catchy and really leave an impression on the listener. My live shows definitely set me apart from others. An Ernie show is always a great time. I freestyle at every show interacting with people in the crowd. I believe that really fosters community and makes the shows memorable.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I always loved music growing up. I’ve always been a social butterfly. I grew up playing sports and was involved in a lot of things. My parents had me in church, in choir, on the high school radio station, and playing multiple sports. I was very active. I’ve been rapping since the high school cafeteria tables. The energy and passion I have has always been there.
