Meet Ivan Plucci of Granite Republic

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ivan Plucci.

Ivan, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I always had the drive for entrepreneurship and I always wanted to run my own business. I come from a family of tireless entrepreneurs, that tried different ideas throughout their life. I moved to US, New York from Moldova (a small country in Eastern Europe, bordering with Romania and Ukraine) in 2008. I’ve tried another successful idea, until I moved from New York to Dallas in 2015 and realized that this area was one of the fastest growing in the world, and construction was happening everywhere. I looked at the data, and discovered there were 1000 people moving to DFW every week and I realized this was a great market for construction. Luckily one of my friends owns a construction business on the East Coast and mentored me throughout the initiation phase of my own venture.

I started by studying the market, drove through neighborhoods, got myself familiar with the metroplex, talked to a lot of business-owners, went through the hassle of finding a location for my shop, gathered my team and started rolling. Since day one I knew good marketing was key to successful business. So, I hired a company to create my online store, and to promote it on Google, so it became the first business directory to show up on Google in the Dallas area.

Another key to our success is making sure our clients are absolutely in love with our product and service. I believe in customer satisfaction and that word of mouth is the best marketing tool.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I am not sure that there is a business that ever had a smooth road.

In my case, I struggled with finding the right people, that are motivated and driven to succeed and to understand the business culture.

Coming from New York, I was used to people taking decisions fast, on the go, where here in Texas people take more time when considering business decisions.
