Today we’d like to introduce you to Ivy.
Ivy, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started the business and at first, it was just me and my husband trying to sell my herbal remedies, handmade metaphysical items, and art at local craft shows. Literally, any kind-gun shows, fairs, craft shows- you name it. We were just trying everything to find our niche.
We frequented and showed our art in other galleries and really came to realize that they were not very versatile. We felt moved to create a gallery of our own-one that was all inclusive to different backgrounds, religious views, orientations, and cultures.
Today, we look for art to be in our gallery that celebrates these differences and embraces the unusual and throw pop-up gallery shows of our own to make it happen.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Haha, not at all. We have met some very rude people that don’t enjoy these differences. We have had many people offended by the metaphysical sides to our art and others’ art shown and they have even sent me messages stating so. We have had to get through some bad rumors and attitudes as well. But this is something we feel compelled to do, it is our higher purpose.
Please tell us about Higher Purpose Emporium & Gallery – what should we know?
At HPE, we focus on the spiritual, natural, and mystical sides of fine art while giving artists equal opportunities to showcase their work in a professional and sophisticated place that celebrates the artist and their story.
Our goal is to provide a platform for artists-established and new alike-the opportunity to have their work seen in a formal setting so that they may branch out into avenues for future opportunities. We feel passionate about bringing cultures together from all over in gallery shows that celebrate the ways of life that are otherwise overlooked in the art world. Examples like: foreign artists from other countries or regions, immigrants keeping their culture alive, pagan artists, spiritual artists, and much more.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I would say that my husband Oso has been the biggest supporter in my endeavors. He has helped me stay focused on the good and on the goals before us instead of on all the negative challenges that have come up sometimes.
