Today we’d like to introduce you to J Adams.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
When I was a kid, I would go to my uncle’s house where he introduced me to producing music with the KORG Triton. I got the hang of it but workstations weren’t for me. He had this program on his computer called FL Studio 7. It was the coolest thing I ever came across in my life. I started clicking stuff on there & knew that this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. When I turned 14, my dad gave me my own computer with FL Studio 8 Producer Edition already on it. Since then all I ever do is to try to get better & better every day.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No road is smooth. But all the fake people, fickle support, being used, being mislead, not being paid/credited, being overlooked, getting out my comfort zone, moving past stagnation, blocking negative people that were close, working a job while finding time to focus on my craft & even deaths of family & friends has its place in every walk of life. I learned to not take anything personal. Remember the good times & just enjoy the process.
Please tell us about Dizzy Made This.
I’m a producer, but I also help structure songs. Currently learning how to engineer, mix & master. I’m originally known for being a graphics designer. But I’m proud to say that I’m more for the art than anything else. I just like putting sounds together & having fun doing so. My sound is real distinct & extremely versatile. I can literally make any/every genre of music.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have used the internet more to establish my brand. I would’ve been more business-oriented & learned the business side. Stayed in the house to create instead of partying. I would’ve gotten out of my comfort zone more early on. Also, learn how to market. Most importantly networked with more people.
