Today we’d like to introduce you to J. Rashad Thomas.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am a homegrown product of Dallas, Tx. where I graduated from high school at David W. Carter High School in continuing my education to the University of Texas and finishing my bachelors at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. I have two daughters that I adore dearly. Immediately after obtaining my degree I began my real estate career.
Under the tutelage of Ira P. Thomas broker/owner of Star Five Realtors my real estate career began in 2008. I instantly found my niche providing the American dream for homeowners that were able and ready to purchase homes. I was a top producer for every year thereafter as well as office manager for the firm. Being the son of a Realtist I became a member of NAREB Dallas as soon as I obtained my real estate license in 2008.
I hit the ground running serving on the board for the last 6+ years and counting. I am currently serving in the capacity of President and look forward to leading this organization to the forefront. I have been on countless committees and picking up the slack anywhere that is needed. I have served on the Texas Association of Realtist board for the last 6+ years and look forward to many more.
I have also served on the National Association of Real Estate Brokers nominating committee for the last 4+ years. I was also a housing counselor for NID for about five years educating potential homeowners the blueprint to maintain and acquiring home ownership.
My non-profit organization MetroPlex Housing Counseling Agency where I am a Certified Housing Counselor and Executed Director along with fellow Director Jamie Thibodeaux we’re impacting the community through education and resources. Our mission is to educate the community on the best wealth building tool to create the quality of life every person deserves as an American.
Has it been a smooth road?
Real Estate is the most humbling industry to be a part of because the market fluctuates up and down. There are struggles that arise from being self-employed, government hindrances, and overall business owner struggles.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Star Five Realtors – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Star Five Realtors has been in business since 1997 and were independent family-owned company serving the DFW metroplex. I am the V.P. of the company, and I specialize in government acquisition, certified housing counselor, and property manager.
I am known for being an educator and community liaison to prevent black communities from being preyed upon and wealth being extracted. I am most proud of our reputation in our community as being a village protector because there aren’t many professionals that go over and above the call of duty.
The biggest aspect of my professional career is that I’m president of the Dallas Association of Realtist where we consistently educate our community to promote wealth building through home ownership.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love that the city of Dallas is becoming the mecca of prosperity and growth in the United States that give constituents great quality of life at an obtainable amount.
The biggest dislike is the same opportunities that most get to succeed and prosper aren’t afforded to the minority demographics.
This is an issue that I will continue to fight for because this issue is only getting worse as the wealth gap increases to astronomical proportions.
