Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Scott.
Jessica, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have always been a planner since the time I was a little girl – from religiously setting out every last piece of my outfit down to the socks I would wear the next morning. Over the years, I grew a deep passion for event planning in general before I discovered my true passion for being in the wedding world. Previously to being a wedding planner, I was an event planner for a hospital, several non-profit organizations, and also ended up in a marketing managers position. I personally got married and soon after that my season of life changed and I realized my passion for helping other couples just like my husband and me was what I wanted to do the rest of my career! There was a relentless passion I could not switch off and that drove me to get busy on becoming my own boss for good.
With a few hiccups along the way with my boy/girl set of twins arriving at 30 weeks to the day early, this was a time that allowed me to dive into my business…. yes, you read that correctly. My sweet babies were in the NICU for 70-days where there were certain times you could visit and lots of time you could not. It was an outlet for me to finally do what I was most passionate about (launching my business) and those babies were fuelling every bit of my drive to make it as a successful wedding planner.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been an amazing journey so far that I can not wait to continue on. I love new obstacles I have to overcome and I always feel stronger at the end of them. Starting a business is not easy. Starting a wedding planning business in an already saturated market is not easy. Some things in life are worth fighting for and my couples are indeed that. I have had the opportunity to work with so many amazing people from all walks of life so far, and I get giddy everytime I have a new bride inquire about our services. I don’t think that feeling will ever go away.

J. Scott Events specializes in expert Wedding Planning/Event + Floral Design in Dallas/Fort Worth and Beyond.
We’ll sit with you and translate your personal style and love story into a wedding plan and design that’s just as chic, boho, or colorful as you are. You’ll have a guide for the whole planning process and be able to fully relax, knowing that we’re in charge of the fine points.
We’ll call the vendors and begin crafting your day so that you can focus on just the fun part, like your getaway outfit, or must-have music for the reception. When the big day comes, you’ll be able to let your emotions take over (in a good way, we promise!), and allow yourself to hear every word of the vows and toasts, and visit with every guest. We’ll be discreetly running the show, so you don’t have to.

We love to celebrate, of course, and we also love to support and care for those in our community. We give a portion of our profits from every event to non-profit organizations in our local area. Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
That is a tough one… I am not sure how much luck has played into my life and business, I will say, I try very hard to learn from what others have done in the past, but also realizing that treating the present as a completely fresh set of circumstances and knowing I won’t achieve success by taking short-cuts.
