Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaaron Staton.
Jaaron, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I went through a heavy isolated period for a good three years away from the Dallas scene. I had been doing parties and the last few events I investing my time it didn’t compensate how I thought it would. I was a promoter in the industry in the heart because I love bringing people together, but later realize how some people will leave you in the dark on business meetings, important details, and promise you the world, but only give you oxygen that you already have. I had to find out the hard way business is definitely a game, chess. So, started a soul searching and realize my organic love for music. I’m not the type to really sit down and write a song but I do love the melodies. Melodies are what makes the song stick. That’s when I decided I would pick up the sax and start playing again after six years of not touching it since high school. When I was able to buy it I through that money at the window with no hesitation. I remember staying in Mesquite at my mom’s house waiting on it to come in. I was impatiently waiting because the sax I got was coated in black paint as I wanted. I had never had one customized before. The day my sax arrived, I started playing music and just playing to it when my mom and sisters were away at work or school. A week past by and I played it a few times. One day, I decided to just go to the corner store by the house and just play. Even though one of my keys were off I still went out there. I didn’t care I just wanted to get comfortable playing in front of people. The store I went to the people knew me by face and would always ask how’s my sax playing going. What really set me forth in my journey is when people would come to me and let me know how good I sound and to keep going. That fueled my fire. From the beginning of my deciding to save and get the sax, I had a vision of working with producers and creating something different in the music industry. All in all, I knew I had to take the brick I was using to build others business and build one for myself. That cornerstone of enlightenment and every day I wake up feeling the energy that I have complete control over my life.
Has it been a smooth road?
The road was never smooth. Just going into the industry I was only going to parties to escape from my problems and personal issues. My circumstances were never the best but I make light of it as much as I can. Every day, I’m working on making better choices like not drinking as much because that alone took years of my life I can’t get back. My biggest challenges only happened because I was not clear at mind and thought.
Please tell us more about what you do, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I look at myself as a commodity. Although, I do not have an official business set up. I still seek and capitalize on opportunities. A lot of people always say find one thing and focus on that one thing that’s yours. My one thing has always been to be outside the box. I’ve hosted big parties with crazy themes that went viral on Twitter. I’ve also constructed an immersive art gallery called Rainbow Vomit that brings celebrities and people from different parts of the world just to see what exactly is a unicorn. Overall, me as a person I stand for redefining reality and doing things that have never been done. Something like that is hard to put a label on. I could make it an enterprise but that’s a lot of paperwork I’m not ready for. I am too busy creating and chasing after more. I’m not just a musician or promoter overall I am an artist of life and people feel that. Especially my spiritual side.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I like the opportunity but I really hate politics and ego. It’s something out here for everyone.
