Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaclyn Carson.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Jaclyn. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My passion for all things creative has allowed me to express myself through many outlets, including writing, graphic design and, of course, photography. I received my first camera as a Christmas gift when I was 14. It was a light blue Cool Pix. I actually still have it somewhere in my house, lol.
My love for photography has evolved ever since. However, my commitment to it was not as consistent in the beginning, It wasn’t until about four years ago that I really started to take the art of photography seriously and focus more on enhancing my skills and pursuing the field. I began dabbling in graphic design my senior year in college. My sorority, Sigma Gamma Rho, needed a flyer made and the person that was going to do it was charging a drastic amount. For some reason, I decided to volunteer to do it. I, YouTubed how to make a flyer and have been working in graphic design ever since.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s overall been a learning experience. Working in a creative field, I think the biggest obstacle is thinking I should feel creative all of the time, especially when it comes to graphic design. Being self-taught, finding out what works and how to do things I want to do is probably the biggest obstacle. But learning is a constant in this field and the passion I have for it makes it enjoyable.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
J. Carson Photography is a photography company that specialized in portraits and also offers limited designed invitations. It was officially launched in September of 2020. My portfolio of services includes graduation, professional, engagement, maternity and family portraits, as well as the design of associated invitations and stationery. I’m committed to capturing and telling my clients story with clean, crisp imagery. I take pride in being the one chosen to help them tell these stories.
There are a million photographers out there. I think what sets me apart from others is the relationship I build with my clients. It’s easy to book a shoot with a stranger and have them take beautiful shots of you, but I want to tell my client’s stories and to know what their story is takes communication.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Officially launching J. Carson Photography has, without a doubt, been the proudest moment of my career. I’ve been taking photos of friends and family for years, but launching J. Carson Photography set a different stage and tone. It’s my baby and I’m super proud to have done it when I was ready and to have done it in the correct way.
