Meet JaCouree Bunn

Today we’d like to introduce you to JaCouree Bunn.

IRAI Ouree, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am IRAI Ouree for anyone yet to be introduced. IRAI Ouree stands for Icee Rashad the Arctic Influence, Icee Rashad symbolizing the good side of the conscience, The Arctic Influence symbolizing the bad side of the conscience and Ouree being the vessel that houses them both. I believe as people, we are made up of good and bad and it’s up to us to decide our path. I started rapping in high school, just freestyling over beats I liked which progressed to freestyling over YouTube instrumentals to recording songs. I loved the art so I knew this was what I wanted to do. I linked up with a few artists that I still work with to this day: Sazé, one of the hardest lyricist I know and Gib$, our in house producer. From there, Gib$ and I put together my first project, “The IRAI Ouree EP”, in 2016 with YouTube beats. A year later, we released “THE IRAI OUREE EP ii”, entirely produced by Gib$. Working on “THE IRAI OUREE EP ii” allowed us to carve out chemistry that helped birth our most recent singles, “Wake N Bake”, “Animal”, as well as our latest mixtape “Just Beecause”, released earlier this year. Not too long after that release, I left Baton Rouge and moved to Dallas so we could build our music and lock in more efficiently.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
This journey has been an accumulation of highs and lows but Im still here today, evolving and continuing to perfect my craft. I feel that I still have a long ways to go but I am consistently releasing music and performing. The hardest part is balancing time and finances to fuel this passion. Also, staying focused on the bigger picture, while trying to live in every moment is key, but a difficult lock to pick.

What else should we know?
I am a Hip Hop artist that’s apart of a collective called, Almighty. What sets us apart is our unique style, range, sound, and flow. We built our foundation on family, we have all grown together, seen each other’s strengths and weaknesses and have helped each other reach our goals. I pride myself most on the fact that we are always elevating, it’s like every time I look up someone else has leveled up, so we all follow suit. We push each other. Almighty, All Family.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Honestly, I always think back if I could have done something differently, I’d invest more in my music when I first started, made more videos and had better sound quality on my projects, quality music deserves quality sound. I feel many of my projects and songs would have had a bigger impact if I was more serious about my craft from day one. I learned from it and that’s all that’s important going forward.
