Meet Jacovie Burns

Hi Jacovie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I will first say: Life has a way of putting the right people in the right place at the right time. My adventure thus far has been one heck of a rollercoaster ride, filled with countless attempts to discover who I really am and chasing my dreams despite being plagued by more insecurities than I could count. And man, let me tell you, those insecurities were a feisty bunch – self-doubt that could rival Hamlet’s existential crisis, imposter syndrome that made me question if I accidentally walked into some CEO convention, and a whole smorgasbord of existential musings about whether I was truly cut out for the wild world of entrepreneurship, to name just a few. But here I am Tax Professional, Cigar Lounge Owner, Video and Karaoke DJ, just to name a few of the things that make me a true entrepreneur who is growing daily.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Well, let me tell you, folks, this road I’ve been cruising on…it’s been bumpier than driving on a pothole-filled street during an earthquake! I mean, I thought I had it all figured out when my buddy Charles Williams showed me the complicated world of taxes. I was like, “Yeah, this is it! My friends and family are gonna line up outside my door, begging me to save them from the IRS!”

I was in for a surprise. Turns out, my loved ones didn’t appreciate me poking my nose into their financial affairs. Can you believe it? I was crushed! It’s like the universe was saying, “Nope, buddy, your charm ain’t gonna cut it in the tax business.” Lesson learned – never assume you’ll be successful just because you know some people.

Here’s the secret recipe for success in this crazy world: providing a top-notch service and sprinkle in a little education for good measure! That’s right, the key to ruling the market is not who you know (although it wouldn’t hurt to know some influential people), but giving your customers an experience so amazing they’d choose to patronize you before other similar businesses

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As an entrepreneur and business owner, I try to make sure that each of my businesses provide something a little extra or different. At Tax2go, Desoto, I try my best to educate my clients on how taxes work and how decisions we make today taxwise can really enhance our future in a few short years.

At Blowin Smoke in Lancaster, we pride ourselves on maintaining a very clean, well-kept lounge at all times for our valued patrons. We are raising the bar on what a cigar lounge experience could really be. We are having a groundbreaking event on September 9th, 2023, called “BLOWIN SMOKE FEST,” in which we will have several cigar companies and brands represented along with entertainment inside and outside all day long. Sophomore Music will always cater to the moments. We have the world’s most talented and creative DJs, Performing Artist who love what they do, and it shows through each performance/gig. Sophomore Music is releasing Its first album by artist Kenni Sosa. This will drop  around Halloween 2023.

As an entrepreneur, it is always an honor to help sharpen another individual and even more of an honor when someone sharpens me. I want to be known as a man who keeps his word and executes goals proficiently. If I can do this consistently enough, I may just inspire someone.

What are your plans for the future?
At Tax2Go Desoto, we are implementing new processes that will expedite the completion of a tax return during the peak of the tax season.

Blowin Smoke is going to change the game with Blowin Smoke Fest.

Sophomore Music’s slogan is “Bringing Music Back To The Music Industry,” and we are doing just that with artists and creatives who blaze their own trail and will inevitably create the trends that people follow.

There are some big things in the works with another one of my companies, “9th Ward Productions”. Our team has almost completed our Resort Studio located in Austin, Tx that will serve as a space for relaxation, serenity, and most importantly creativity.
