Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacqueline Haupt.
So, before we jump into specific questions about what you do, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started off making YouTube/Vine covers when I was only 14 years old. People in high school really didn’t know what I was capable of or saw what I was doing at the time, but I always wanted to be someone that takes the opposite way from others. I started making songs through instrumentals from different artists. One of the people I looked up to at the time was “CORBIN” or “Lil peep”, they were OG SoundCloud artists. That’s when I decided to make something for myself. I decided to contact different producers from different media platforms and found one demo that I loved. At the time, I was enamored by a boy. He did me so wrong that I decided to write about my experience as a 17-year-old girl. I wanted to write this song for my girls out there that were blinded by men. This song was called 3 AM. It sort of got out and it was released on Twitter. Then, people wanted the full song. Then, I ended up posting it on my SoundCloud, as my first song.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been tough, it is still very tough. I have felt like everything I am trying to do has gone all the way downhill. I do more and make new content, someone will hate it and criticize me. Someone sees me try to make something different and new, they will try to drag me to filth. I have felt like everything I pour my heart in, no one is seeing. I’m trying to get out of the Dallas scene, maybe someday make something and start spreading things in different cities. I always feel like Dallas is a big bubble. Like “the Simpson’s” when they got Springfield locked in. That’s how I feel.
What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others?
I’m a singer. I obviously am not a popular one that’ll make me get noticed or spot by people easily. I’m mostly known for my aura and my voice. I get very excited when I try new things, but mostly I am proud. Sometimes, I get proud of how many things I did so far, I am proud of how positive I’ve been thinking. But most importantly, I’m proud of my work. I try to make sounds that relate to more people my age or anyone. I also try to mix languages with my songs. I love to mix my culture in it, as well as what I go through as a young woman.
Is there a memory you look back fondly on?
When I was 7 years old, me and my cousins would walk home from school. My grandma would walk with us and afterschool. She would buy me and my cousins Mexican snow cones. My grandma would also make us dinner, and my cousins and I would play WWE on their PS3. I would always choose a cute girl wrestler, I would always lose.
