Meet Jacquelyn H of Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacquelyn H.

Jacquelyn, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started out as a food blogger and writer, and that’s where my love for photography really took off. I enjoyed capturing the beauty of the dishes I created, turning each plate into a little work of art. While I was exploring this passion, I also tried my hand at modeling. I found myself naturally giving suggestions to the directors and photographers on how to make the photoshoot even better. That experience helped me realize I have a knack for seeing things creatively, whether it’s in food or fashion. For me, photography is more than just taking pictures; it’s a way to tell stories. I love the idea of combining visuals with narratives, creating images that evoke feelings and connect with people. Whether I’m focusing on the details of a beautifully plated dish or capturing those candid moments during a lifestyle shoot, I strive to create a connection between the viewer and the subject. Plus, my background in writing adds an extra layer to my photography, helping me think about the story behind each shot. I truly believe that every photo has a story to tell, and I’m excited to keep exploring that blend of photography and storytelling in my work.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It certainly hasn’t been a smooth road. With any journey, there are always struggles along the way. One of my biggest challenges has been being overly hard on myself, which often led to delays in starting my work. I found myself feeling self-conscious about my photography and worrying about what others might think of it.Through this experience, I’ve learned an invaluable lesson: if you have a dream, you should pursue it wholeheartedly. Delaying your success by hesitating to take that first step only holds you back from achieving your goals. Embracing your passion and sharing your work is essential, no matter the fears or doubts that may arise. In the end, it’s about growth and learning to trust in your vision.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in portrait photography, and I believe my strong suit lies in editorial photography and concept creation. I love producing “magazine edits” that mimic my favorite magazine shoots, often incorporating urban and artsy aesthetics. What I take the most pride in are my edits; they are raw and real. While many photographers strive to edit their work to achieve the “perfect photo,” I find beauty in creating images that symbolize authenticity. What truly sets me apart from others is the storytelling behind my work.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
As a photographer focused on portrait and editorial work, I see some exciting trends for the industry in the next 5 to 10 years:
Authenticity: There will be a growing demand for real and relatable images that tell genuine stories.

Diversity: The industry will continue to embrace a wider range of voices and backgrounds, making photography more inclusive.

Technology: Advances like AI and augmented reality will change how we create and share photography.

Sustainability: Photographers will adopt greener practices as environmental awareness increases.

Digital Presence: Building a strong online brand will be essential for connecting with audiences.

I hope to work for a magazine that embraces these trends and allows me to create meaningful work.
