Meet Jada Arnell Thomas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jada Arnell Thomas.

Jada, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’m Jada Arnell Thomas and I’m 21 years old from Dallas, TX. I’ve been singing since I was three years old. I got my start singing at my home church, Smith Chapel A.M.E Church. I’ve always had a strong love for music and I had always wanted to continue to grow and perfect my craft so throughout elementary and middle school I tried my best to do that, but I wanted more for myself. Once I got to high school, I knew that music was most definitely the only thing I wanted to do. I attended Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. While at BTWHSPVA, I learned and grew so much and that school really gave me all the tools that I needed to succeed in life. My senior year I was cast in the all-school musical which is when I started to really love Musical Theatre. Once I graduated from high school, I decided that I wanted to continue to study the arts. I currently attend The American Musical and Dramatic Academy in Los Angeles, CA. I am a rising senior majoring in Musical Theatre. My time at AMDA has been absolutely amazing and I truly say that I’m growing and learning new things every day. Although I’m a Musical Theatre Major, I specialize in genres like R&B, jazz, and gospel. I’m currently working on new music and just released a single titled “Boy Bye” which is out on all digital platforms.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course in life, we’re all going to have struggles, but with me and my music career, I’ve been blessed to have the biggest support system behind me. My family has always been by my side throughout everything so I’m forever grateful to have friends and family that love me and are willing to support me through it all.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about your work– what should we know?
In Dallas, people now know me as some who can sing and someone who has a strong love and passion for music. I can say that I am most proud of all the many goals that I’ve set for myself and accomplished. As a 21-year-old, it’s hard to juggle college life, a personal life, and a music career, but I made a promise to myself that I would always work hard for the things that I want no matter what.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
My parents have always kept me grounded and instilled in me that being humble is very important. I think these two things are important aspects of being successful because it makes people see that we’re all just alike. I never want people to see me in a negative way or get negative vibes from me. I’ve also been taught that in order to get what you want, you have to work hard for it. I believe that hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard. Just because God gave me the gift of singing doesn’t mean that things are just going to be handed to me. My work ethic is very important to me and I’ll continue to work hard for all of the goals that I want to meet.
